how can I deal with this type of question, to me, C should be the better answer.
Please help me with this.

Could you tell more why C should be the better answer than A?
I think in option C, Y didn't mean to blame for the large amount of plastic in landfills to legislators. Y's concern is about safety feature that plastic offers.

that was my thinking months ago, now I still cannot understand why A is the answer. I doubt that this question comes from a reliable source. I agree that A is the best left, but there is no information in the passage about other materials.
I believe A is an important pattern, but I am not so 100% sure.

btw, what is the source of this quesiton?

Okay, so this is what i feel: this is not a weaken category question, although it has the word "weak" in it. But rather it is a "describe the argument" kind of question (as we aren't attacking the assumption here. We're describing Y's response).
I have seen questions like these in The Manhattan guide, but haven't been able to find such questions in GMATCLUB using the tags. Here is a snippet from the book



Hence, the doubt. Sorry if the question is silly and in reality it just falls under weaken the argument.
