Experience during the program

Curriculum, Classes, Professors in Southern Methodist University (SMU) - Cox are beyond my expectation. SMU Cox's curriculum is combination of Case Study, Experimental Learning and Lecture. Many professors teach with passion and have great experience both teaching and professional works experience.
At SMU Cox the Career Service Team will help you to get summer internship and Full Time Job. You will have 2 classes on your first year focused on building your CV, network and getting internship/full time Job.
Another benefit that you can get is location. Many of Fortune 500 companies have headquarter in Dallas-Fort Worth and they are recruiting from SMU Cox.

Experience during the program

I found a lot of interesting courses that were taught by great professors, but at the same time some of the courses need refinement. The finance and analytics professors are amazing and help the student body immensely.
The college could work harder in helping the student body connect with employers and have more networking opportunities.
At the same time we need more diversity in the class structure. Only when we have diversity and programs to help them have occasions to interact with each other, we can have better classroom discussions.
Incoming Students should be prepared to hit the ground running and start networking with alumni from day 1 so that they can make the most of the opportunities provided to them.

About job placement process

The job placement is not great and a lot of companies that used to come to the college are not coming in anymore. So the students need to work on their own instead of just relying on campus placements.

Please talk to international students and alumni before joining school .
Don't just believe ranking and placement report

Another important aspect is that choose location of B-school depending upon
Your background . For example if you have tech background than choosing low ranked school in California would be more helpful than few ranked higher school in Dallas.
When you see list of companies always see how many of them sponsor ? It is not that easy for international students in SMU even though many big companies hire from SMU.

American companies value more real world experience than education so make sure you start working on your best stories even before coming to school. Headstart and setting goal at beginning is very helpful.

Experience during the program

As with a most schools, there will be some good and some bad. While some classes have been worthwhile and professors passionate about their work, there are those which have seemed useless. Classes you want to take that would benefit your internship won't be available until your second year. However, this will depend on your concentration.

The head honchos of the business school have been nice. They are nice people, who will take the time out of their day to sit down and help in any way possible.

If you join one of the student clubs, there are many opportunities to embark on treks to companies in Houston, New York, and etc.
