Great experience with Keith & Manhatttan Prep

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Keith and Manhattan Prep were instrumental in my preparation for a successful GMAT score. Every week we learned new tips and tricks to help master how to take the exam that I am sure I would not have picked up otherwise. Keith is a great instructor who actively tries to make sure everyone in the class is understanding the problems we are working on at that time. Also, the general breadth of resources the course comes with are invaluable. The online homework tracking tool helped me not only perfect my timing, but also easily track how I was doing and where improvement was needed. The Manhattan Prep practice exams, combined with the GMAT practice exams, are more than enough in that respect. I definitely believe this was worth the money!

I highly recommend Manhattan Prep for GMAT preparation. When I was researching test prep options, most sources suggested Manhattan Prep was the best. In my opinion, Manhattan Prep has the best material and strategies to effectively prepare for and perform well on the GMAT exam.

I took the 9 session Live Instruction course with Keith Blume. Keith was an amazing instructor. It was evident from the first class how genuinely interested he was in getting to know his students individual strengths and weaknesses and helping each one succeed. Keith is truly passionate about his job and is a highly effective teacher. I am grateful for his guidance in helping me exceed my expectations on the GMAT exam.

Manhattan GMAT Rocks!

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I took the GMAT three times. Before my first exam, I largely did self-study using the Manhattan GMAT books. However, after several months of studying, I took the exam. To my surprise, I was not satisfied with my score or performance! After months of debating what I needed to do, a lot of people recommended me to Manhattan GMAT. I signed up for the 9 week prep course and my instructor was Jessica Hanzlik.

Jessica was an awesome teacher! She takes the time to explain the topics and also things to look out for when you see certain types of questions. Not only does she take time to frequently ask if anyone has any questions, she also gets the classroom involved and makes sure everyone understands the problem/answer, before moving on.

The course and homework take a lot of time, but I followed all the strategies and tricks that Jessica presented and finally finished with a score that I'm not only comfortable with, but one that exceeded my score expectation. I am very thankful for Manhattan Prep and Jessica! I don't think I could have increased my score by over 100 points without them. Remember, if you find the exam as difficult as I did, by staying disciplined and doing all the thing asked: flashcards, error logs, improving your weakness areas, you can get the score you want!

510 to 700

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I completed the 9 week Manhattan prep in person class with Dan Bartz in the first quarter of 2016. First off Dan is an amazing person and a great teacher. He was willing to go above and beyond to help me reach my goal.

The Manhattan books were really useful and I found the explanations in the Navigator to be insightful (for the most part). At first I didn't see the value in the strategy supplements, but after going through them I really was able to see the gains that I wanted.

Going through the GMAT process is a miserable, but Manhattan Prep helped me get through the process and break the 700 threshold.

Excellent Course - Taught by Dan Bartz

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I had a great opportunity to take a course taught my Dan Bartz. All of the previous reviews were only positive and my review is only positive. He was very good at going through the material concisely and efficiently, while still adhering to the pace of the class. All of the tips and tricks he taught were very useful, as I improved my score from an original 560 to a 760 at the end (49 Quant, 45 Verbal). He was encouraging and friendly throughout the whole process, and really was useful in suggesting ways to overcome the toughest problems. I would definitely recommend DB to others looking to prepare.

Very Satisfied with Course

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I signed up for the 9 session prep course with the expectation that most of the benefit I'd get out of it would be from the books themselves and from the motivation to stick to a study schedule (something I had previously failed at). However, it turned out that in addition to those benefits, the live classes taught by Keith were extremely helpful in making the strategy tips work for me. He helped us understand the nuances of the more difficult GMAT questions, especially for Quant. I also appreciated that we started the sessions with an open forum where people could bring up questions or concerns that had come up over the past week, either specific to a certain problem or general testing/admissions strategy questions.

Course Manhattan Prep GMAT Private Tutoring

Instructor Daniel Patinkin

Location Chicago-N. LaSalle, IL USA

The private tutoring ultimately depends on the tutor.

My first time around with MGMAT, I had a private tutor that seemed disinterested, was hard to schedule with, and never really came up with a lesson/study plan. I ultimately scored in the mid-600s

After about a year break, I decided to take another stab at taking the GMAT. I contacted MGMAT to see if I can get my subscription extended another 2 months because I wanted to use their online resources. I was not expecting to use another tutor because of my poor experience the first time around. MGMAT informed me that I was entitled to a post exam session with a more experienced tutor. I decided to take see what would come of it.

I was put in touch with Dan, and our free session went fine and he saw some gaps and identified points of interest. Since I had 2 hours from my initial package left over, I decided to use those hours with Dan and purchased an additional 2 hours. In the span of 8 weeks, Dan and I had 4 sessions together. It was very easy to communicate and schedule meetings with him. Also, he came up with great examples to help me understand concepts. I was able to bump my score 70 points and into the low 700 area.

What surprised me the most was how helpful my sessions with Dan were even though they were online. My first tutor's sessions were all in person and it seemed to be more difficult.

640 to 730 with Keith

Improvement 90 Points

Course Manhattan Prep GMAT Private Tutoring

Instructor Keith Blume

Location Chicago-N. LaSalle, IL USA

Keith helped me increase my GMAT score by 90 points, from 640 to 730. We focused mostly on math but that seemed to be his greatest strength. His teaching style covers both basic lectures and question and answer formats but he also approaches the test in an abstract way as well, showing how each math topic relates to other math topics and how to quickly assess a problem and identify the steps needed to solve it. Because the GMAT only allows about 2 minutes per problem, speed as well as accuracy is incredibly important. Keith helped me tremendously on my timing. I was finishing tests either guessing the last 7 questions or sometimes even finishing the test with 5 minutes extra and my quant score was very poor. Almost every problem we did together was timed, no matter how hard it was. He also helped me identify lost cause problems, or problems that are so complicated and time consuming that is best to guess an answer and then move forward to the next question. Because of Keith my quant increased 40 to 48 and my verbal increased by 4 points from 38 to 42 and I was able to apply to a much higher caliber of schools due to my new increased score.

Manhattan GMAT Course Review

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I was very nervous going into my GMAT studying - not knowing if I had the ability to score very well and not knowing if I could even get back into intense studying after being out of college for five years. After scoring a 570 on the initial practice test, I knew I had my work cut out for me, but Manhattan GMAT was such a helpful program. My in-class instructor, Dan Bartz, was so knowledgeable about all of the topics we covered. He was so great at teaching us what we needed to know to be able to do well on the GMAT, and he also did a great job preparing us mentally for the test. He was very good at engaging everyone in the classroom, and I often times was surprised when class was over, as it seemed time had flown by! The materials provided by Manhattan were also fantastic. All of the books explained each subject area so thoroughly, but in an easy-to-understand, not-too-technical manner. The online materials were just as helpful, as well. What I also really appreciated was the post-exam assessment I had with Haakon Brown (a long discussion following my first attempt at the official GMAT). Having an MGMAT instructor break down my weak and strong areas and provide me with a study plan for my next attempt at the test was great, but what I found most helpful was the way Haakon was able to help me get in the proper mental state - since I found the GMAT to be such a psychological grind (both while studying and while actually taking the test), it really gave me the confidence I needed! I ultimately scored a 700 on my second attempt at the GMAT, and I know I would not have come close to that without having taken Manhattan's GMAT review course, and I can't thank the company - and the instructors who helped me - enough!

Invaluable preparation

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

Preparing for the GMAT obviously goes without saying. But many are understandably apprehensive about paying $1000+ for an in-person course on top of $250 per GMAT session, etc. I certainly was one of those people. But think of it this way: a bump in your GMAT score, which is probably inevitable with a good course/instructor, can mean the difference between so many things: a safety school vs. a dream school; paying sticker vs. receiving a scholarship; confidence going into the app season vs. apprehension about candidacy; etc. So the money should easily be rationalized given the huge importance of your GMAT score.

But which to take?? I spent a lot of time researching programs and it was clear that Manhattan GMAT had an edge, first and foremost because of its superior print materials. Not to say that other programs don't put out good stuff -- they do -- but MGMAT really seemed to have an edge. Full disclosure, I previously had taken an LSAT course with Angela, so I was confident in her ability to teach. So I chose MGMAT and was extremely pleased. Certainly you could use the MGMAT print materials alone, but augmenting those w/ a strict lesson plan and interactive weekly classes meant the difference between an active/engaged and a passive/solitary style of preparation. I am biased, obviously, but I really believe the former is worth its weight in gold, and MGMAT is the way to go.
