Product The Red Pen Admissions Consulting
Consultant Natasha Mankikar
I spoke to quite a few consultants before going with The Red Pen. Most of them were either too pushy or spent the first call telling me why I wouldn't get into good schools. These guys were the opposite. They listened, explained the process clearly, and gave me a realistic but encouraging picture of where I stood. I also heard from someone who got into a top school using their services, which helped me make the decision.
The essay work was the real value. My consultant would make me go through six or seven rounds of just thinking deeper and rewriting before she'd actually step in and refine the draft herself. By the eighth or ninth version, the essay would come together beautifully. She's a really good writer and that showed in the final output.
One thing I really appreciated was when I was under massive work pressure and wanted to take a sabbatical to focus on applications. She talked me out of it. She said schools actually want to see people who are managing both, and stepping away from work could look bad. Then she just simplified things for me so I only needed to spend about an hour a day on my end. That kind of advice goes beyond just applications and I was grateful for it.
The only thing I'd improve is the alumni network point I mentioned above. But overall, the quality of guidance, the writing, the availability, and the professionalism made it a great experience. I'd recommend them to anyone serious about their MBA applications.
