Hello fellow GMATters,
This is my first post. I have been following the forum for a few months now and been studying all the key study tips intently. I plan on applying to B-School's this fall and have been studying for the GMAT for the past three month. In this three month span I have made it through the entire
MGMAT course and study books.
My initial
MGMAT diagnostic was a 580, but weighted more heavily toward verbal - 33 (39%) Quant 36 Verbal (81%) . Needless to say I was shocked at my very poor performance on the Quant, and have made it my mission to score in the 90% in Quant.
I have made it through the entire
MGMAT Math Foundations Book, and have started to troubleshoot more of my math fundamentals at a steady pace via Kaplan Math Foundation Books. I also have been making my way through the Slackmann Math Doc...which I have found very beneficial. My major hang up when making my way through Quant
OG's are the Word Translation Problems, specifically ones that relate to VICs. For some reason I have a very hard time conceptualizing and translating these words into equations, or have a hard time translating all these VIC into logical sense. I have the
MGMAT Word Translation Guide and EVICs book, and have gone through them once already. I plan on going through them again thoroughly in the upcoming week.
I must master this area to score well on the quant...and I am willing to do whatever it takes to hone this weakness. I know most of the Quant success is about being comfortable breaking down what the question is asking...and that comes from doing reps upon reps of these types of problems. I would appreciate any advice, recommendations, books, study/cheat sheets, any one in the Club can provide me as to improving this area of the Quant. Please!
Thanks you all in advance!
