0 questions right in CR, where to start?

Hi everyone,

As much as it pains me to admit, my foundation for verbal (especially CR) is very bad and I don't know where to start. I've done a practice test and a couple of practice problems (official GMAT and the TTP verbal beta) and I've gotten almost everything wrong. I read the passage and I read the answers and I can't comprehend half of it and then spend 15 minutes on the problem just to get it wrong.

I've seen my performance improve drastically across quant because of TTP building up my foundation, and I really need some sort of systematized plan to get better at CR.

Does anyone know any good place to start? Or what I could be doing on a daily basis to build that foundation? An example is that I do a couple of worksheets on basic math daily and try to read challenging articles for RC.

Manhattan CR books can be a good place to start. 
CR is mostly like math once you learn how to break an argument. You can also try e-gmat's trial for CR.

Agree with poojakhanduja3017 . Manhattan CR book is really good with nice explanations. There are 7-8 different CR question types like Assumptions based, Inference type, etc. Read and understand one type or two types at a time. Practice only those types for a few questions(from your fav book or GMATClub) until you clearly understand the approach. Review your responses and the answers written by the experts, to understand why wrong answers are wrong and why something is right. Thanks for the resources! I just took another quiz and this one was a 30% (all assumption questions)... so this is going to take some serious work.

Hi Jpatel6910.

I saw that you described how you have used TTP for quant. Are you using TTP for quant at this point?

If so, since TTP Verbal teaches Critical Reasoning from the ground up, the TTP Verbal course would be the ideal resource for you to use to learn to crush CR.

Overall, the way to master Critical Reasoning is to work on one type of question at a time, first learning the basics of how that type of question works, then learning about more specific aspects of that type of question, such as types of traps you might see and how to work your way to various types of correct answers to that type of question, and finally, developing your skills by analyzing and answering many questions of that type, working slowly and carefully at first, and then speeding up as you develop skill.

This is actually where I started and got everything wrong on. The explanations make sense, but I can't accurately get to the correct answer choice even when I try to break out the explanation on why I think each answer choice is right or wrong. I think I'm going to switch to powerscore CR bible, and then go back to TTP verbal.
