Hi,

I am from India. My profile is as following:

GPA: 8.3 out of 10. (i.e. 3.32 out of 4)

Work Experience:
1 year as an analyst (will be 1.5 yrs as on January 2014) in a Big 4 company (Consultancy)
SAP based technology related. Client facing job.

Achievements:
Was within top 10 in school-leaving exam

Certification:
CFA Level 1 in June 2013

Extra-curricular activities:
Writing.

Interested in finance jobs. So would like to apply in institutes that have strong finance placement record.

GMAT: not taken yet. Expecting 740+.

My suggestion would be to start by focusing on the GMAT.  How you perform on the GMAT is going to be a critical determinant in terms of what schools you will be competitive at.  You GPA at a 3.3 is suitable, but light, so the GMAT will be a key metric.

That said, 1.5 years of work experience is also light for a top school.

I also see no mention of leadership, initiative, or innovation in your profile.  Business schools look for leaders- how have you been a leader?  For that matter, what differentiates you from other candidates?  What makes you exceptional?  You should answer this per your career and extracurriculars and volunteer.

I guess the question is are you looking to go to business school or are you looking to go to a top busienss school.  Of course at this juncture you could be accepted to business school, but from what I read you are not yet ready to be a strong candidate for a top business school.
