Ohh by the way , has any international (no permanent resident or citizen) gotten an invitation? Please post if you do. Maybe it will be like last year again and internationals will get calls at the very end.

Iamvolitant - congrats on your invite !! You are one of a kind being a college senior and all, from what I hear this doesnt happen to often. You must have impressed them very much and hopefully Don will give you the call when the time comes. Best of lucks!

Thanks fsaq,
I'm hoping you and I both get that call.
Keep hanging in there for the international/PR invites and keep us up to date

Keep hopes up. I spoke with two current LGO students who said they typically do invites over a couple of days. Could be some tomorrow. I know that doesn't help, but good luck.

Well Ladies and Gents,

I received an interview. I am not as excited as I should be, as I have been here before, but I am really excited about the opportunity to knock this interview out of the park. Who will be the 50?
Good luck to the rest of you. I hope all goes well.
Best,

if anyone is wondering, I called the Cambridge Marriott and the "special MIT rate" is $189 a night for InterviewFest.
or you can book online without a special rate or code it's $129 a night (non-refundable).
I'd like to couch surf, but will probably take the safe bet with the Marriott..

iamvolitant...where did you book the marriott that you got $129/night? I am seeing $249 on their website as the lowest.

make sure you're at the Boston Marriott Cambridge (i think this is the one thats right on campus)

here's the link:
https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/b ... cambridge/
i checked for a stay from feb2-feb5 and it's still 129 as of this morning (no view, non refundable)

edit:
if you are only booking a thursday or monday night, then that might be the reason for different rates, i think if one of your nights includes a friday or saturday, the rates go way down

Yeah, I think it's because I only need Thurs night, fortunately I can stay with my brother the rest of the weekend.
Thank you for the details though!! Good luck!

Hi rajadi,
I have a few questions on the admission process for international applicants, could you please
shed some light if you know the answers:
1 . Usually when does invites come out for international applicants ?
2. When is the interview generally held for international applicants ?
3. Will it be an on-campus or a phone interview ?
4. How many international applicants are called for interviews ? (i know around 4-5 finally make it).

Thanks in advance.

lol rajadi I am not that much of a veteran per say, I have only applied twice.... though I have done lots of research on this because its what I really think affects our applications the most, even though you may have an equivalent to a 4.0 and a 800 gmat. Here is what I can tell you:

1)From what I have heard and been told by LGOs I have met, invites are sent very late in the game, as an example, last year, there were international invites on the last week of the game and as far as I know, one of those invites was an admit.
2)For interviewfest there are usually only 2 or just 1 international invites, could go as high as 3, but I do not think it will be more than that. It has been reported that you may not get an email, you may actually get a physical letter in the mail and then you contact the LGO office to set a date and time (for Interviewfest).
3)I visited ambassadors day on 2010 and out of the 5 internationals I met, one girl was from Israel, another girl was from Mexico, a guy from Singapur (though I think he was a permanent resident as he had a Phd already), another guy was from Mexico and one from India (I did not meet the LGO from India though I was told about him/her).
4)As far as the interview type. The international admit who got a call late in the game was told that it would be a phone interview. However, the applicant traveled to Boston and interviewed in person after asking the adcoms. This means that they bend the rules for internationals if need be, though if it is too late in the game, they will probably ask for a phone interview.
5)5 internationals per cohort is about right.

Im not sure if this helps. I have scouted every blog and historical forums for LGO, visited MIT, etc and gleaned this information through these means. I think that at the end of the day, we are looking for hope and to actually be able to say that if we submit our application, it is seriously being considered. Thats the reason why I have applied:because I do believe that if your app, is good, you get a call from Don. Had I not been convinced that internationals had a chance, I wouldnt have bothered on writing the essays and chasing for recs.

If you guys hear anything from LGO as an international, please let everyone know and tell us the details to have more facts on hand. Now I am off to Six Flags as I will not let the anxiety of this process interrupt my life. Everyone who did not get a call should do the same, we will be fine LGO or not, though LGO will help a great deal! :-)

good luck!

Thanks fsaq for the detailed info.. u prove me right, u really know a lot abt the LGO process (and that's why i called u a veteran, i hope u didn't mis-understand me)
ashwinshankar, my 2-bits: I visited LGO this year, and to my knowledge there is no Indian who wasn't residing in USA at the time of application and haven't had a USA degree. However, I met internationals (who were neither US resident nor worked in US, and didn't have US degrees) and if they could make it, there is chance that we can also make it.
So all the best! Don't know about the number of interview invites for the internationals

For all those that got an interview. What questions are you preparing for?

I will start.

1) Why MIT/Why LGO, and why now?
2) Tell me about a time you had to motivation someone
3) Tell me about a time you succeeded, tell me about a time you failed.
4) How do you handle conflict resolution.
