GPA: 3.09
Major: Finance
School: Top 25 large public state university
Letters of Rec: will have pretty good LOR from employers (work as a tax consultant) and hopefully academic
Extra Curricular: decent but not exceptional
I'm planning to apply for Spring 2017 admission. I'm also planning on taking accounting pre-requisite classes over the summer. I'm worried, however that with my less than desirable transcript (2 F's one of which was Accounting 1... I re-took it and made an A, and several C's) that I will not have a shot at many schools. However, my last 60 hours gpa is around 3.4. Will making a (3.8-4.0) gpa in six pre-req accounting courses this summer help my chances? What are my chances at places such as:
Top choices:
Georgia State, Arizona State, UNC, University of Florida, UGA
Others of interest:University of Denver, Arizona, Utah, FSU, South Carolina
I'd love some advice on steps to take in order to better my chances!

Thanks for reaching out! You've pointed out the red flags, but the good news is that you're on the right path to addressing them. Doing well in these supplemental courses will definitely help your chances. They don't completely erase the damage, but this will demonstrate your ability to handle the course load at the next level along with your commitment in the classroom. Any chance you'd be willing to retake the GMAT?
