I will have been working in Commercial Banking for 4 years and want to apply to top programs with the goal of breaking into Investment Banking.
Will I be competitive for M7 Programs?
Also, I attended my undergrad for 5 years as I changed my major from Engineering to Finance and my GPA took a roller coaster ride. I started off with a 3.8, but it plummeted during sophomore and junior year. During that time, I failed 2 courses: Intermediate Accounting and Corporate Finance, and retook them getting B+'s in them. I graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.36.
My question is, how badly will this hurt me once AdCom sees my official transcript? I have leadership experience outside of work as I am on the board for my county's Boys and Girls Club and volunteer at another organization.

Your GPA is going to hurt. I had a 3.33 with a 770 on the GMAT, applied 7 places and got into one. I think under a 3.5 GPA is a dealbreaker at many schools. My suggestion is to apply top-15/top-25. Don't give up on the top schools, but select other schools that you'd be proud to attend as a fallback.
I got into UCLA with a scholarship, and I'm thrilled that I got in. Getting into 1/7 hurt my pride, but it didn't kill my opportunity to go to a highly ranked school.
Apply to 7 schools in the top-25. All of which you'd be proud to call your home for the next two years. And, see if you can get into an M7. I wouldn't count on it, but don't give up hope.

What schools do you think will be my best choices to break into IB? Georgetown, Emory, UNC, Notre Dame, UT Austin, Carnegie, and Duke for a reach?
