Hi You have just now started, without studying anything. Dont be demotivated. Let's start from scratch, get a good GMAT prep course like TTP, study the concepts, basic question types and drill yourself with typical GMAT problems, then take a mock test, this will give you your baseline score.

Now, build strategies, test taking tricks, and keep improvising, this will give you the mindset required to tackle the exam, then start giving mock tests, these scores will be reflective of your true potential.

In short, you have just started, don't be worried. All the best ! You can do this !

Devastated by this below avg score, planning to give gmat in 6-9 months.
Need alot of work specially in quants. How can I start working on my qants skills ? Currently reading gmat for dummies

Below 500 scores are common in the first no-prep mock and frankly, they don't serve any purpose other than to de-motivate the test taker. You should learn the basics of the game before you put yourself to test.
I have written more about this here: https://anaprep.com/test-strategies-whe ... ice-tests/
In any case, here is a video in which I talk about how to prepare for GMAT for a high score: https://youtu.be/Q2ItDtZpN7c
Check it out.

Raw7102001 - I understand you're feeling discouraged, but a 6-9 month timeline gives you plenty of opportunity to significantly improve your score, especially in Quant where you have the most room for growth. Here are the steps I recommend:

1. Create a Targeted Study Plan for 645 You should aim for a total score of 645, which requires a sum of 246 across all sections. Based on your current performance, I'd recommend targeting V84, DI 80, and Q82. This distributes the improvement more evenly while leveraging your stronger verbal skills. Check out this comprehensive study plan guide: https://e-gmat.com/blogs/gmat-focus-study-plan/

2. Focus on starting with Arithmetic (AR) in Quant Since you mentioned needing significant work in Quant, start with Arithmetic, particularly number properties. This foundational area will give you the building blocks you need for more complex problem types. Number properties questions are frequently tested and mastering them will boost your confidence and accuracy.

3. Develop Process Skills Beyond just learning concepts, you need to build strong process skills for the Quant section. This includes systematic problem-solving approaches, time management strategies, and avoiding careless errors. This resource will help you develop these crucial skills: https://e-gmat.com/blogs/process-skills-to-master-the-gmat-quant-section/

4. Watch These Key Videos Start with these two essential videos that will give you foundational insights:
With 6-9 months of focused preparation, moving from Q66 to Q82 is absolutely achievable. Stay consistent with your study schedule and track your progress regularly.

What makes you think 6-9 months is appropriate duration while most successful scores are achieved with consistent prep of just 3 months?

I think giving yourself too much time may work against your drive to improve your score.

The score is not a representation of your capability... it's just the representation of your current understanding of GMAT.

Rethink this plan. Let me know if you need help on this...

Hi Raw7102001,

A great way to move forward with your quant prep is with topical learning and practice. In other words, focus on just ONE topic at a time and practice that topic until you achieve mastery.

For instance, let's consider your study of Number Properties. First, immerse yourself in all aspects (formulas, properties, techniques and strategies) of this topic, and then, focus solely on Number Property questions. After each problem set, take the time to delve into your incorrect answers. This self-reflection is a powerful tool that allows you to understand your learning process and make significant improvements. For instance, if you made a mistake in a remainder question, ask yourself why. Was it a careless error? Did you not apply the remainder formula correctly? Was there a concept in the question that you didn't grasp?

By meticulously analyzing your mistakes, you will efficiently address your weaknesses and, consequently, enhance your GMAT quant skills. This process has been unequivocally proven to be effective. Number Properties is just one example; be sure to follow this process for all Quant topics.

For this reason, we do not suggest that candidates appear in a mock completely cold.

Good luck with your prep!
