any "trends" or whatnot about the test take it with a grain of salt. i think you could retake if you think you could do a bit better and have time. if not i think the score is OK for your target

I suggest you take the GMAT again. You got a good Q score and with more preparation, you have a better shot at 750+

yall worry too much about what the GMAT is doing and what they're doing.

None of that is going to help you on the actual GMAT.

What's really going to help you is settling down, understanding that the test is an adaptive test and doing the work. It has been tested and proven to be true.

I'll suggest you to retake if possible! Which books you had used in the preparation?

You have great Quant score and with the little help of tutor or some good books you can raise your score above 700! Also why are you thinking of it will waste your a year? I think you can devote one year to strengthen your apps!

I don't believe it is true that in some months questions are easy and in another month the questions are tough. GMAC can't afford to do this injustice to students! So, it would be just another myth!

Thanks guys for your replies. I just took a break for few days after the exam.

Well mostly i will rewrite the exam in dec. but frankly speaking i suck badly in verbal. i lose my concentration while reading a passage or CR and actual GMAT atmosphere takes the hell out of me. I know i could have got a 30 at least in verbal though 30 is still a bad score but that much i can score now.

As i already have decided that i would be writing GMAT again, you guys can help me prepare better, particularly in GMAT.
Books i have-
1. Kaplan
2. OG 12 and 11
3. Verbal review 2
4. MG SC
I dint study kaplan, i dint like it. i hardly wrote kaplan tests too
i studied MG SC, OG 12 and verbal review. All the time stressed on verbal. But it dint help. Frankly speaking i never found these books helping me out. I never found any particular pattern in questions, dint know what to learn from those books. I could solve the problems or after looking at the solution i said myself "yeah, this should be the soln".
And, i never timed my studying too or while practicing he OG guides.
May be you people can help me a little in "how to study the books" and "how to increase the verbal score".

And sincere thanks to all you guys for your responses :)

Go through the MGMAT SC guide again and start practicing on OG 12 in timed mode.

For CR, you must, must, must go through the PowerScore CR Bible to understand what is needed to tackle CR problem.

For RC, there is no such good book on RC, but you can try your hand on Veritas RC guide. I found this book quite good at RC.

For additional practice you can buy Veritas guides, as your quant score is great, you can buy only Verbal guides of Veritas. They are well designed guides and covering all the tested topics.

Also try to keep error log, I know keeping an error log is hectic work but it pays at the end of the day.

Personally, even I don't like Kaplan Books, I have gone through Kaplan 800, Kaplan Verbal Workbook and Kaplan Math Workbook. But the questions in those books are no-where near to real questions!

another option is u join some courses..for instance knewton 50+ points guarantee..my friends told me that their verbal course is good..
with a 600 it is difficult to get into good school..post MBA if u want to join banking/consulting then with 600 it is tough because i heard that these companies also look at ur gmat score

If you have not started, try an error log. Review it every couple of weeks, you will fill your weaknesses up quick.

Well, i have not started yet. Just kinda taking a break. i downloaded error log sheets from this forum. hopefully will be useful.
In this forum i read couple of interesting things : a question a day and 3 RCs a day if i remember correctly. How can i subscribe to those questions. Can anyone help me on this.
