Hi All,

I would like to share my experience regarding GMAT preparation and exam so far and need your help to decide my next course of action. I started preparing for GMAT exam from September mid 2016. Ther main study materials I used for Quant and Verbal were MGMAT. I gave the 2 mock exams from GMAT prep software, 3 mock exams from MGMAT and 4 mock exams from Kaplan Prep. I also practiced questions from OG 15 and magoosh. In almost all the mock exams, my average score has 660 (including couple of 630s and few 680-90s). My average Quant score was 48 and Verbal was 32. I gave my GMAT exam in January and I got 620 (Q48 V27). I was disappointed. I wasn't expecting a 700+ but atleast 650. I decided to try again.

I started focusing on verbal. I started writing down the SC and CR rules and focused mainly on error analysis. I used the couple of free courses in e-gmat, read the MGMAT material again, the SC course in Magoosh and used the veritas prep 7 mock exams for my preparation. Again, my average score ranged around 660 with 32 as the average in verbal. I gave my second GMAT exam last week and scored a 590 (Q44 V27). There hasn't been a single improvement in my Verbal score. I don't know where I went wrong and what should I do next? Here is my list of scores:

GMAT Prep 1 (11/20 – 600 Q45 V28)
Magoosh CAT Test (12/7 600 Q42 V32)
Economist GMAT test (12/11 620 Q45 V32)
Kaplan Test 1 (12/18 660 Q48 V32)
Veritas GMAT Prep 1 (12/22 640 Q47 V30)
Kaplan Test 2 (12/28 680 Q48 V35)
Manhattan GMAT 1 (12/29 620 Q42 V33)
Manhattan GMAT 2 (12/30 590 Q44 V29)
Veritas GMAT Prep 2 (12/31 680 Q50 V33)
Kaplan Test 3 (01/02 710 Q49 V38)
Princeton (01/05 690 Q51 V35)
Kaplan Test 4 (01/07 660 Q48 V32)
Manhattan GMAT 3 (01/08 660 Q48 V32 )
Kaplan Test 5 (01/15 670 Q49 V33)
Manhattan GMAT 4 (01/16 690 Q47 V37)
GMAT Prep 2 (01/16 660 V48 Q 32)
Jan 29 – Score 630
Feb 5th – Score 660
Feb 16th – Score 690

Do you think I should give again? If I give, how many months preparation should I take and what should be my approach this time? Should I buy the Verbal Online e-gmat course and a Math Revolution 1 month course? Please give me your honest suggestions. I definitely don't want to waste my money for something which may not give me the result I am looking for.

Thank you.
Akhil

I don't have any specific advice to verbal, but I would recommend just sticking to 1 or 2 sources. Many people have said using several study sources for the same topic is not as helpful as really diving into 1 or 2. I've heard very good things about MGMAT SC, unsure about the others.
