640 GMAT - Executive MBA programs? Retake GMAT?

Hi,
I am an Indian male. I scored 640 in gmat and this was my third attempt. Following are the details about my qualifications and work ex
Work ex- 4 years in operations in a FMCG giant.
Graduation- Btech( mechanical)-71%
12th- 88%
10th- 83%
Extracurricular- decent
Gmat score- 560,620,640
I am disheartened by Gmat score and don’t know what to do next. I want to do executive mba. Kindly suggest which colleges can I target with this score .
Or should i write gmat again?

You've taken the gmat a lot of times already. I wouldn't retake it unless you have a different approach AND you take some practice tests and start getting into the higher range.

You might consider prepping, take some practice test, and if score has improved, schedule the test.
But hard part is figuring out how to prep so your score will be higher this time around.

You gotta find some other folks with similar experiences as you, see their story, and learn some lessons. Mb they did some smart things. There are some retake stories on this forum as well as some on the gmatpill testimonials->retake site. https://www.gmatpill.com/testimonials/

Some students retook after 3 exams like you and saw some difference. See if they did anything special in their prep.

Hi vivek4444,

The process of applying to (and ultimately attending) Business School will require a big investment of time, money and energy on your part, so you really should make sure that the Programs that you apply to match your career goals/needs. There are a variety of factors that go into selecting the Schools that you'll apply to. Instead of just applying to Programs in which you might have a good chance to 'get in', here are some other things to think about:

1) Is there a particular company that you want to work for or industry that you want to work in? Certain degrees are more appropriate than others if you have a specific career goal.
2) What do you want your MBA to do for you?
3) Do you want to go to School full-time or part-time?
4) Are you willing to relocate? Are you comfortable with working through a program that is primarily online?
5) Are you going to be applying for scholarships?
Etc.

It's okay if you don't have answers to any of these questions just yet, but you really should try to define all of the important variables in terms of your goals, so that you can tailor your entire approach to getting into the best School that matches what you're looking for. Based on the Schools that interest you, you may or may not need to retake the GMAT.

Hi Vivek,

Before we move ahead, can provide me the answer to the following questions?

1. Which course material/book did you follow?
2. Have you completed the OG and the Verbal Review?
3. Did you take the mock CATs including the AWA and IR? If yes, what were the scores?
4. Have you ordered the ESR?

Even a few hours of coaching or essay review could be a big help in the process. So my answer is this... if you want to look at where you can go now... look at these programs. Think about what you really want from an MBA and see if those programs can give it to you. If you don't think they can... then get a new plan for the GMAT and make that your total focus for a year and go from there! But regardless to not think the GMAT is the only thing that matters. Can anyone Please evaluate my profile. I am very interested in doing MS, or MBA, in finance from some good asian university. Also, can you please suggest me some schools?

My GMAT score is 640 (Q50, V26, IR6). I have also taken GMAT last year. My score was: 620 (Q49, V26, IR:5). I am in no mood in taking another GMAT :p . Got some other engagements as well.
