I was thinking of something about this thread.

We could add the name of the school we're going to. Not where we're applying, or been admitted. Just matriculating to.

It would be interesting to have an overview of where 700+ gmatclubbers actually go to.

This is a wonderful thread! Since I haven't taken my GMAT yet... I would like to post a suggestion: I think it would be helpful to post a category for Study Duration, i.e. 2 months, or 3-4 months, etc. Also specify the Study Hours per day.

I'm learning a lot in this thread... keep it going and "Congrats" to all the 700 Clubbers!!!!! We know you worked your tail off!

although my quant is not stellar, this is a thread I would not have ever imagined being able to participate in

Test date: 6/20/09
Number of times taken: 1
Score: 700[90%] (43q [68% :x], 41v [92%])
AWA: 5.5
Study method: on my own with a a set of mgmat books, mgmat online tools, and OG 11th edition, OG VR, OG QR

Study plan: Started studying late Feb 09 - Jun 09, took awhile to get through everything due to hectic travel schedule and weeks without cracking a book. Studied 2-3 hrs a day M-Th and about 6 - 8 hours on weekends. I went through a mgmat study guide, did the problem sets in the guide, and then worked on related problems from the OG guide UNTIMED (this was to focus on learning content, not to develop speed). Any answers I got wrong, I reattempted, if the answer was still wrong after the second try, then I would review the answer explanation. I did the mgmat question banks about 2 weeks after I completed its related study guide, this way I could see what content I held onto. I did not review wrong answers since I knew I would want to complete these question banks again. When I completed all the guides, I worked on quant problems in sets of 35-50 from the OG QR guide, this time around I timed myself to assure that I could recall the content under time pressure. Again, I reattempted wrong answers before reviewing answer explanations. I did all of the SC problems in the OG VR and about half of the CR and RC (not areas of concern). In my last 2-3 weeks I reviewed notes and key concepts, took practice tests, and reattempted the mgmat online question banks (I highly suggest buying access to these as the questions are moderately to very hard, especially when compared to the quant problems in the OG guides, those can build false confidence as they seem to be easy to moderate questions. I breezed through those only to find myself frustrated and stifled on practice tests.)

On the non-tangible side, I think it's important to set a goal for yourself, but set a goal you truly believe in. In no way was my goal to score 700, I simply affirmed that I was not paying for this test more than once and that I was going to get a satisfactory score my first time around. Also, make sure you do all you can to relax the day of/before the test, defeat your nerves before they defeat you. Lastly, if you have the discipline to study on your own, save your $700-2000 for the applications and school visits you will have to complete. I am someone who was very average on practice tests and in no way claim to be a GMAT guru, but due diligence and calm nerves paid off in the end.
