countcassidy,

It certainly seems that cracking that "700" mark is an important psychological benchmark. But clearly you want to put each element of your application that is within your control in the best possible position. So if you have time and the opportunity to retake the GMAT, we certainly recommend it. (Boosting that verbal even a few points will go a long ways.)

It certainly helps that you went to a top 25 undergrad program and that your GPA was on an upward trend, but you seem very aware that your GPA is going to be one of those elements of your application that is now out of your control and which you will have to work to overcome. (Both via your narrative/story as well as the other elements of your application.) We also would like to see what other leadership roles you've taken, whether through extracurriculars that you haven't included or even in the workplace. If those are fairly limited, it becomes even more important for you to boost your GMAT score.

If you have any additional questions, please request an additional FREE 15-minute profile review from a WyseGyde admissions consultants. WyseGyde consultants have track records of success at top schools such as Wharton, Booth, Tuck, HBS, Columbia, Darden, and the list goes on. They could certainly help guide you along your MBA path…and the profile review is FREE!

Hi all,

Thank you for your contributions to the conversation. It confirmed my initial thoughts about a retake. I will be taking a week breather, and preparing to improve on my 700 score!

Hi there,

You have a decent profile and 700 is good to go for top B-Schools. But if you have time and if you think you can improve your score then i would definitely recommend you to retake your GMAT. It will offset your low GPA and also improves your chances of getting admit in top global business schools.

You may also gauge your chances of getting admission to top business school by trying this amazing tool https://bit.ly/1C9o2Md

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
