12121989I would go for it. I once helped someone get into Booth with a 1 on IR. From what I know so far, I believe they waitlisted you because they were concerned about your ability to handle the quant rigor of the class and you have improved in that area. If you feel you have a better test score in you, while you still have some momentum retake.
However, if you feel like you can't do any better in the near term, rest assured they have the previous IR score so I would append a note that you feel the first IR score was a better reflection of your abilities. They are likely to concur. Keep in mind they are looking at scores not for the sake of scores but as an indicator of your future success in class. Quant is the big deal; and also, they dont want you to dip the average too much if at all. It's lower than the class average but now only by 4 points; hopefully you have other strengths to offer the school.
If you dont retake, I think I would do MBA Math as well; 43 is OK but not awesome, MBA Math is like a 15 hour self paced program and has cred with admissions on proof of numeracy. Submit both.

I am currently waitlisted at NYU Stern and just retook the GMAT in hopes of improving my overall application. I was thrilled to improve to a 710 with 43-Q and 44-V but horrified to see that my IR score was only a 2. I initially applied during round 3 with a 690 GMAT (40-Q, 44-V with 8-IR). I'm at a loss for what to do now - I can't believe how horrible my IR score was the second time around when it was so good the first time! Is it still worth submitting my new score to Stern in hopes of getting accepted off the waitlist? If I don't get in off the waitlist and look to re-apply next year, should I plan to retake the GMAT a third time in hopes of improving my IR score while maintaining both my verbal and quant scores?
