Hi all,
This is a question for Admissions experts.
I just took the GMAT Online and received a 710. It's a score which was about average with my practice tests and one that generally I'm very happy with.
However, my breakdown is less than inspiring... a
Q42 (41st percentile), V45 (99th percentile). I had scored up to a Q49 in Official Practices - and my lowest was 46. Meanwhile my highest Verbal prior was a 41... so a bit of a freak performance all round. I realise that the top b schools prefer strong quant minded students, so I'm a little worried about this breakdown.
My questions are below:
1. How heavily do Admissions consider your score breakdown? I am looking to apply to the top schools (Harvard, Stanford, Columbia etc). Is the poor Quant score worthy of a retake?
2. I received all A's in undergraduate quantitative university work (eg. Accounting, Statistics, Maths, Finance etc)... is this enough to offset my poor Quant score?
3. If I decide not to retake, is it worth highlighting in the Optional Essay / elsewhere that the Q42 is a blip rather than reflective of my true ability? Or will this just look like an excuse.
Thanks so much for your help!
Rory
If i were you , I would retake to get to the desired quant score .
