Hello! I know that many people have posted on a similar or related topic, but I wanted to get a fresh perspective on my particular case. My next step will be to contact an admission consultant -- if anyone can recommend a specific company or person, please let me know.
GMAT: 720 (Q44, V44) (first attempt)
GPA: 3.9 - English, Secondary Education, Theatre
J.D. from top 25 school, Tax LL.M.
Solid extracurriculars, especially in law school (leadership positions)
Work in mid-sized law firm, excellent promotions
Wrote for an international entertainment site for four years -- managed 6 writers; founded my own theatre reviewing site in 2014
Good board membership
White male, LGBTQ (good ties to the community)
I am interested in transitioning to a finance position and leverage my legal and tax knowledge to add value to this position. I would like to apply to the top business schools; my list includes:
- Yale
- Booth
- Kellogg
- Columbia
- Wharton
- Haas
- Harvard
- Stanford
Should I re-take the GMAT in order to raise my Quantitative score? Will my current score hurt my chance of admissions? What else should I consider when applying? I raised my LSAT scores through multiple attempts -- I believe that I can learn how to master a test through additional study. This GMAT attempt was after about 4 weeks of studying.
Thank you for your advice!
