Whenever I would get discouraged during my GMAT preparation, I would read the debriefs for motivation. It always helped reading about other people's success stories, but most importantly, I would try to implement some of the strategies that were mentioned. So I promised myself that I would make a debrief whenever I broke the 700+ barrier.
Note: I'll try to make keep this short and focus on my strategy. Also, my test center opened up. So I didn't have to take the GMAT online.
Background:
WE: 1-2 years Corporate finance. Moved to the US when I was 7-8 years old.
Official Scores:
End of November 2019: 650 ( Q47 V32)
End of December 2019: 660 ( Q44 V38)
May 2020: 720 (Q48 V41)
Quant: I'd say I was pretty decent at quant to begin with (I obviously neglected Quant for my second exam). Could get 80-85% of OG questions correct consistently. I highly recommend
MGMAT Strategy to establish your foundation; TTP to reinforce knowledge and learn all of the nuances; and optional, GMATclub quant CATS.
MGMAT and TTP are an absolute. GMATclub CAT are very helpful for two reasons: 1) Simulates the Exam 2) the question are tricky (C-traps) - DS questions can be pretty. I felt that GMATClub CAT's did a pretty good job at exposing my vulnerability to fall for those traps.
Verbal:
SC - Read the
MGMAT strategy at least 2 times. Practice a lot of OG questions (gmatclub - the website has all of the OG SC ever published. So take advantage of that). Watch GMATNinja youtube videos about SC (very very very very very very helpful).
CR - Powerscore CR was my bible. I didn't read the
MGMAT strategy for CR. Also, practice a ton of CR (OG's and Official LSAT)
RC - Slow it down. Understand the passage. Same as CR, practice a ton (OG's and Official LSAT)
I understand that my score is not amazing or anything, but it is pretty decent. So I wanted to share my strategy and hopefully help someone out.
