Hi guys,

My situation is this: I have registered for 5 GMAT exams, i took 4 of the exams while 1 for one of the exam, i cancelled the exam as i had to go for surgery, thus did not attend the exam.

I was wondering, will that 1 cancelled exam be counted in my 8-test lifetime limit ?

thanks for the answers and help!

Score cancelation will be counted as an attempt. But exam cancelation will not be counted in your lifetime 8 attempts.

Hi BB,

The GMAC site says that GMAT Online does NOT count towards the lifetime test attempt number.. Could you please confirm again?. I have only 1 attempt left and have scheduled the online GMAT thinking it wont be counted

you are right, it does not count towards the lifetime test attempt. The negative being you cannot cancel the score.

At this time the GMAT™ Online exam can only be taken once. Currently, score cancellations and retakes will not be available, with the exception of verified technical issues.

The GMAT™ Online Exam will not count toward your yearly nor lifetime exam attempt limits.

Hi bb. Now that the GMAT Online does count towards the lifetime limit, do we still not have the ability to cancel scores? Also, do they still appear on a separate report?

Thank you all - I had a typo :( back in May
Fixed it. Thought rules have changed a again with retakes and lifetime attempt count. Currently the GMAT Online does count towards lifetime limit

You can cancel scores for test-center based tests.
You can choose which score to submit with the GMAT Online so you don't need to cancel scores
There is nothing in common between canceling score or lifetime attempts. You can take 8 times canceled score or not.

Do the online attempts count towards the GMAT™ rolling 12-month and lifetime limits?

All GMAT™ Online exam attempts will count towards your five (5) GMAT™ Exam attempts during a rolling 12-month period and eight (8) total limits. Online and test center appointments will be combined to determine your eligibility for future appointments.

Please note that as previously communicated, any GMAT™ Online exams taken prior to September 23, 2020 will not count towards your 12-month and lifetime limits.

In addition to the above posts/Articles do check this one https://www.mba.com/frequently-asked-questions/gmat-exam-policies#question2

It mentions "You can take the GMAT™ exam once every 16 calendar days and no more than five times in a rolling 12-month period and no more than eight times total (lifetime limit effective December 17, 2016)"

Also check - https://www.mba.com/frequently-asked-questions/about-the-gmat-online-exam#question3
"Candidates can take the GMAT™ online exam up to two times. All GMAT™ online exam attempts will count towards your 5 GMAT™ Exam attempts during a rolling 12-month period and 8 lifetime limits."

The 16 calendar day rule does not apply between GMAT online and in person. You can take an online test within 16 days of the in person and vice versa.

Hi Everyone,
I have given 5 GMAT attempts. I have booked one more. So in total 6 GMAT attempts.
I cancelled 1 GMAT exam because of COVID Lockdowns and 1 GMAC cancelled.
However, It is showing that I have reached my registration limit.
So does cancelled exams count in the 8 attempts?
