A. $4.25 B.$3.00
C. $2.25 D.$1.85
E. $1.75 Initial charge =$1.25

Additional charge of $0.25 for each 1/5 mile traveled. In other words, we're charged$0.25 for each 0.2 miles traveled.
2.4/0.2 = 12
So, a 2.4-mile trip consists of twelve 0.2-mile increments
(12)($0.25) =$3.00

TOTAL COST of trip = $1.25 +$3.00
= $4.25 Answer: A Cheers, Brent _________________ Test confidently with gmatprepnow.com Target Test Prep Representative Status: Founder & CEO Affiliations: Target Test Prep Joined: 14 Oct 2015 Posts: 8069 Location: United States (CA) Re: A certain taxi fare consists of an initial charge of$1.25 and an addi  [#permalink]

E. $1.75 The number of 1/5 miles in 2.4 is (24/10)/(1/5) = (24 x 5)/10 = 24/2 = 12. So the total cost is 1.25 + 12 x 0.25 = 1.25 + 3 =$4.25.
