A clock is started at noon. By 10 minutes past 5, the hour hand has turned through:

A. 145º
B. 150º
C. 155º
D. 160º
E. 175º

CONCEPT
- Hour hand moves by \(\frac{1º}{2}\) in one minute
- Minute hand moves by \(6º\) in one minute
- The change of angle between the minute hand and hour hand in 1 minute \(= 6-\frac{1}{2} = \frac{11}{2}\)

Movement of hour hand in 5 hours = 30º*5 = 150º
Movement of hour hand in 10 Minutes = (1/2)º*10 = 5º

Total Movement in 5 hour and 10 minutes = 150+5 = 155º

A. 145º
B. 150º
C. 155º
D. 160º
E. 175º

For each hour, the hour hand moves 1/30 degrees.
For 5 hours, it moves 5/12*360 = 150 degrees.
For 10 minutes, it moves 10/60 * 30 degrees = 5 degrees

Do, total angle moved by hour hand = 155 degrees
