I apologise if I may sound silly but isn’t “originated from” more idiomatic than “originated as” ?

Please do explain.
Thank you :)

No. "As" is also used to describe the role played by the subject in the sentence. In this case, "as" conveys that crossword puzzle was more conceived as children's game earlier. It hasn't changed its form or anything and is still the same. Originated "from" would imply that modern day crossword puzzle and children game are something different.

Experts, correct me if I am wrong :)

Can someone please explain why D is correct. Shouldn't there be a comma before 'which'.
Can we expect a similar question in GMAT i.e which without a comma referring to a preceding Subject.
