in sum: Negative feedback was not the cause of the drop in car sales.
In option A, was it feedback or the other reason for the drop in sales of cars for others major manufacturer of cars? If it negative feedback then yes the negative feedback is somewhat responsible for the drop in car sales. Weaken the argument. If it is not the negative feedback/complaints then other than negative feedback was the reason for the drop in car sales.- Strengthen the argument. So A is not correct.
In B, how many cars were bought by regular customers after the complaint/negative feedback by them? If cars purchased are very few by regular customers, then it was negative feedback for the drop in sales. Weaken the argument. If car purchased are significantly high by regular customers, then it was other reason for the drop in sales. - strengthen the argument.
Now I am confounded with A and B. Please explain where I am wrong.

Answer choices follow the same pattern, and I believe the answer to this question should be A, not B. (You can read replies from the discussion in above link)
Can anyone help explain the difference, if any, between these two questions and why B is the answer here?...
For A you have to make an additional assumption that other companies did not have a badly reviewed car which could be a fair assumption but an assumption nonetheless and additional assumptions are usually a hint that the answer is not fully supported by the stimulus.
But B correctly provides evidence that even though the customers found problems with the car they were still willing to buy it so it must mean that the low sales must have a different cause.
