Here we need to assign / arrange $$2$$ people out of $$4$$ people to $$2$$ posts.

This can be done is $$4_P_2$$ ways $$= 12$$

Approach could be first select two person out of 4 and then arrange them.

Select 2 person out of 4 people= $$4C2$$
number of ways to arrange two selected person into 2 positions =2

Hello
Out of 4 people, 2 people can be selected in 4C2 number of ways
also, two persons selected for two positions can be shuffled in 2! ways as A-B, B-A
So total number of ways = 4C2*2! = 6*2 = 12
Hence Option D

Ans - D
Easy way:
Assume that there are 2 slots to be filled, S-Steward and T-Treasurer
For S - You have 4 people to chose from
Once, S is selected, for T, you are left with 3 people to chose from

So, total options - 4x3 = 12

Since we have specific positions in the group, order matters, and so we have a permutation. Thus, the number of ways to select a steward and a treasurer from 4 employees is 4P2 = 4!/2! = 4 x 3 = 12 ways.
