C is not correct ans....

Correct ans is A
Reasons...
They is clearly refering to colleges....
And the difference between Colleges in America and colleges in developing countries like India...like has to be used here....not such as ...there could be many countries that are growing like India ..

So my final answer is A as per my understanding.

But doesn't 'like' go against GMAT's list of acceptable words, specifically in this scenario? 'such as' is more apt. Therefore D should be correct?

According to industry experts, the biggest difference between colleges in America and colleges in developing countries like India is that in America they are searching for students whereas in India they are searching for faculty.

(A) in America and colleges in developing countries like India is that in America they are searching for students whereas in India they are searching for faculty

"Like" is incorrectly used to give example.

(B) in America and developing countries like India is that American colleges are searching for students whereas in India they are searching for faculty

"Like" is incorrectly used to give example. Furthermore, this sentence is making an illogical comparison between colleges in America and developing countries.

(C) in America and colleges in developing countries such as India is that in America they are searching for students whereas Indian colleges are searching for faculty

"whereas" construction is not parallel.

(D) in America and those in developing countries such as India is that American colleges are searching for students whereas Indian colleges are searching for faculty

(E) in America and such developing countries as India is that in America the colleges are searching for students whereas Indian colleges are searching for faculty

This sentence is making an illogical comparison between colleges in America and developing countries.

"they" cant represent "collages" as "those" can and is ambiguous because it can refer to both collages in India and collages in america.
