We can eliminaate A & B easily.

Between X and Y <- Correct Idiom

Out of C,D,E

C an be eliminated because of the parallelism error.

According to one behavioral economist, people should choose carefully between thinking more automatically and quickly and slower and deliberate, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter requires the often limited mental resources of attention and effort.

Between D & E.

D has meaning error

According to one behavioral economist, people should choose carefully between thinking more automatically and quickly or slower and more deliberate thinking, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter requires the mental resources of attention and effort that are often limited.

(A) or slower and more deliberate thinking, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter requires the mental resources of attention and effort that are often limited
- we can think of this as between thinking more automatically and quickly or slower
and more deliberate thinking
or
between thinking automatically
and quickly or slowly and deliberate thinking
both of the above do not look good. Also deliberate has been used an adjective as it modifies thinking which does not seem meaningfully right as it is supposed to say thinking deliberately . Hence A is out

(B) or more slowly and deliberately, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter requires the often limited mental resources of attention and effort
- No much change in between construction. limited mental resources look good as the meaning requires that

(C) and slower and deliberate, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter requires the often limited mental resources of attention and effort
- Again deliberate thinking has been changed to deliberate and slow to slower which means it requires comparison which is not the case here. people are choosing between x and y. Hence out

(D) and more slowly and deliberately, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter often requires the mental resources of limited attention and effort
- between is looking good
between thinking more automatically
and more slowly and deliberately
or
between thinking automatically and more slowly - but we know that does not make sense as when it become automatic does not syn with slowness
- limited as a modifier now modifies attention which is not required as mental resources are limited

(E) and more slowly and deliberately, as the former frequently leads to drawing wrong conclusions, while the latter requires the often limited mental resources of attention and effort
- between usage as described in option D is used correctly here
- limited modifies mental resources which is correct
- verb usages are right
Hence E is the answer
