Hi there,
Thanks for posting. You have several strengths to your profile, including your grades, solid work experience, strong international experience, extracurricular involvement. In terms of your professional experience, the more specific examples of leadership, and accomplishments and impact you can cite, the better. You may feel your experience is less 'typical' but that's not necessarily a bad thing; you'll be compared most with those most similar to you, so it will be more about standing out from those with similar experiences. The GMAT is one of your main weaknesses for very top schools right now, yes, so I would definitely support a re-take, and there's not a lot to lose by doing so! That said, even nailing the GMAT does not lead to any guarantees...whereas for top law schools, certain GMAT/GPA combos basically mean you're likely to get in, for b-school the process is even more holistic, so factors such as your essays, recommendations, interview, and specifics of your resume all make a big impact as well, so keep all of that in mind. I think if you do bump up the GMAT to the average of the schools you are interested in or above, and if you have some good leadership examples and can articulate what you'll bring to the class, as well as why the MBA is right for you, then you could have a shot at strong schools as described. Good luck and keep us posted on how we can help!
