We went to Giordanos. Almost ate myself into a food coma.

haha.....don't blame you mate. They have the best chicago style deep dish pizza in chicagoland. I wonder whether that Evanston Giordanos still has the half off deal on mondays -:).

Gil: Are you talking about cozy noodle? Its almost David and Oak though so it'd be west of Maple or you might be talking about Lulus

While I don't claim to be an expert on restaurants, I did live in Evanston for 4 years as an NU student and here are some of my favorites in the area:
    Clarkes (American)
    Mount Everest (North Indian/Nepalese)
    Olive Mountain (Mediterrenian)
Bravo! (Italian - opened recently in place of Wolfgang Puck right by Century Theatres)
    Thai Sokdee (Thai)
    Flat Top Grill (American)
    Blind Faith Cafe (Vegetarian)

Coffee houses I'd recommend:
    Kafein
    Annam's Cafe
    Cafe Hookah (also a bar)
    Unicorn Cafe

Breakfast places:
    Le Peep
    Vive la Crepe
Walker Brothers Original House of Pancakes

The bar scene is pretty much within one block on Sherman between Lake and Grove:
    Tommy Nevins
    Keg of Evanston
    Praire Moon
    Bar Louie
1800 Club (few blocks north of these places on sherman)

I currently don't live in Evanston but I'm there at least once a week. However, River and Steel will probably be more current on the new hotspots in Evanston.

Thanks Shayne. Definitely a good run down. I'm not sure what the name of the place I went to is but I will definitely be eating there a lot when I get back.

A friend from Kellogg just reminded me of the restaraunt he took me to which was great - Dave's Italian Kitchen. Really enjoyed it.

Definitely a big fan of all above (gotta put in a shout out for Olive Mountain BYOB. Fantastic).

Other favorites of mine include: Bat 17 (fantastic pastrami & blue moon beer towers for cheap), Joy Yee Noodles, Buffalo Joe's (perfect for bringing home for sports watching), Stained Glass (for fine dining), Dixie Kitchen and Bait Shop (mmmm Cajun), Al's Deli, and Sashimi Sashimi (good sushi for the price).

The 1800 club is basically an undergrad hangout, people go occasionally but not often. The Keg is the late night Tuesday night place. Personally I love Bat 17, so many amazing sandwiches there and their brunch is the best in town. Steel's list has most of the places I was going to add but in addition to those Koi is good, Tapas Barcelona, and Red Mango (frozen yogurt) are great.

Insider food times. Tuesday is $1 burger at Bar Louie, not the greatest but they are a dollar and then $0.50 for each topping, and veggie burgers are $2. Students get pizza's at whole foods for $9 every day, cheapest pizza you will find and they are good.

There are lots of different things people do for fun. I usually go to Champps in Skokie to watch UFC fights with friends every month or so, food isnt great but its always a good time. People also go to Chicago for dinners, its pretty easy to get in and out of the city. The only issue is food gets expensive downtown, especially at the steak houses and stuff like that.

Not quite sure - but I think it was in mid April last year. You'll have plenty of time between when they are put up on the website and when you have to decide though.

Shameless plug: Go on Hong Kong / Macao!

Yup. Basically a one page description of each of the locations along with some comments written by the group leaders. Some are actually really amusing to read. It will be a real tough choice with a ton of great locations including a mystery trip for the brave (not me).

Is there a digital copy of this list somewhere? I'd be curious to know what locations are available. What are the rest of you guys leaning towards?

Hard to say w/o seeing the list, but Hong Kong would be a blast, and I'd be interested in Dubai as well (if offered). Spain, Greece or Egypt would also be fun. And Austria, Sicily, Belize. And...and...and...! You?
