Can anyone remind me what password to use for your email? My activation password and the one I set for the admitted students website doesn't seem to work. I couldn't find anything about it on the admitted students website. Sorry. :(

rca,
its the same password that you set for your netid....activation code is a one time thing just used to activate your netid...
your Kellogg email is nothing but an alias really.....behind the scenes your email account on the NU IT server is actually something like:

<your netid>@<nuserver>.northwestern.edu
It worked this time! Not sure what the issue was before (probably something to do with me being a moron). Thanks!

I got my admit package yesterday and it included a Kellogg logoed laptop sleeve and a wireless mouse - quite useful if you ask me. I just didn't want another purple T-shirt/sweatshirt as I already own a dozen of those :).
Harldy any of the Kellogg stuff we have/get is Purple...sometimes it has purple lettering but usually is grey or something neutral and less offensive than bright purple.

Oh good...

Thanks River!

Don't know if you guys have seen this -

https://www12.kellogg.northwestern.edu/ ... 31&fid=441

Seems like a fantastic opportunity with Procter & Gamble for those who are interested in working there. Unfortunately, from what I can gather it is not open to internationals:(. Kind of gives you an early feeling for what competing for jobs as an international is going to be like - many companies won't even give you a shot...

But I digress:).

Good luck to anyone applying. It would be amazing entering into first year knowing you have an internship.

Here's a link to the program Gil mentioned on the P&G site for people who don't have a Kellogg password:

https://www.pg.com/jobs/jobs_us/cac/studentprograms.htm

It does seem like a great opportunity to get a jump start on networking if you're interested in P&G or CPG.

Gil, to your point on recruiting as an international, I wouldn't judge it just by CPG - which I think is one of the tougher industries to recruit for as an international.

I know. Just kind of disappointing to realize you will be paying the same (if not more) for less opportunities.

When are you leaving your job to move to Evanston? I was planning on working until the 14th of August, moving to Evanston the following week, and then heading off on my KWEST trip the next week.

Am I nuts?

I set my last day of work for July 31. Moving to Evanston the next week, then relaxing for a couple of weeks, then KWEST. I'm sure you could pull off your schedule, but seems like it'd be really tiring.

Kwest is August 22nd or around there. So you may want to rethink your timeline if you wanted two weeks before leaving your job and leaving for Kwest.

I would change that and make my last day August 3rd, even though it is a Monday. Here's why - if you work any day in August, then your healh insurance runs through the end of the last month you worked. i.e. you don't have to get gap coverage for August in case anything happens.

You know we LSU people love bright purple, forget neutral colors.

Now THAT'S why I'm on this forum! Thanks! I'll owe you big time if I lose an arm during those few weeks (never know!).

What about Cobra? Doesn't that automatically cover you for a grace period after you leave your job, even if you don't enroll in Cobra?

I believe the way COBRA works you have a grace period (maybe 45 days?) in which to elect coverage. You can elect coverage during that period (even after you get sick), and it is effective from when you leave work. The rub is that you also then have to pay the premium for the period starting from the day you leave work.

Personally I agree with leaving earlier in August, if not even earlier than that. KWEST runs right into CIM which runs right into fall quarter, so you may find yourself worn out pretty quickly if the only week you have off between work and school is the week you move to Evanston.

Yes, COBRA will cover you, but you have to pay for it (retroactively if you need it). You've already paid for your company medical plan through your payroll deduction, why not get one month for free? Basically, your company supplements the cost of health insurance, usually somewhere around 80% of the group plan rate - that is about the average. So the $50 a month you get deducted from your paycheck tax free goes up to ~$250 a month post-tax for COBRA. Just work one day in August and your covered the whole month for free.

If you leave Aug. 3rd then you still have 2.5 weeks before KWEST, plus free health insurance till September. If you leave July 31st, then you you have 3 weeks till KWEST, but might have to retroact COBRA (and pay $250) if anything were to happen to you in the month of August.

Sorry to butt in here, but what jb32 is suggesting does not necessarily work with all employers. You'll need to check what your HR policy is and how your COBRA administrator interprets separation dates. For instance, it is entirely possible that if you leave August 3rd and are paid twice monthly, you'll have traditional employer health coverage "in grace" (i.e. not through COBRA) only until August 15th - i.e. the day of your next payroll and not the end of the month.
