Probably around 100 first years were at the Derby this year - it was amazing :) Some went down in RVs together, some stayed at hotels together, we all partied at the Derby together.

I highly recommend it - the mint juleps were fantastic!

G-lab is another class similar to GIM but different...I am debating taking it next year. Other trips people do.

Spring break for people not on GIM. Lots of people do smaller group trips all over. There are some organized trips all over the world, I remember there was an official Isreal trip.
KWEST pt 2...a lot of 2nd years lead KWEST then spend the next week or two in the general area of their trip traveling even more.
Spring Ski Trip, long weekend ski trip
Treks...there are a ton of varoius career oriented treks ranging from clean energy in SF Bay area to Wall Street.

Trips you really want to get to do:
2nd round interviews...lots of them are at the location (not a lot of fun usually)
Sell days...companies fly you out after you get the offer to try to get you to sign on the dotted line.

Any estimates on how much Treks cost? And for 2nd round interviews, do companies fly you out or do you pay for those tickets yourself?
thanks!

Treks vary...basically its the price of a few nights hotel and a roundtrip airfair. Some are in chicago so they are real cheap relatively.
Yes almost all companies fly you out and put you up when you go interview.

The pre-enrollment courses are live on the website (I know how I'm spending my last 2 weeks of work).

Question for current students: what's the deal with the "optional" math boot camp exam? Is it a self-analysis tool to see if you are weak in certain areas or does it have some official purpose as well?

Sweet! Thanks for letting us know. Is it weird that I'm excited about this?

My DAK leader-peeps were saying that some professors ask you if you've done the boot camp or not, and get annoyed if you say you haven't. I don't get the exam thing either...

Yes! I got a studio in McManus.

(Just a note to everyone, if you are forwarding Kellogg email to Gmail then a lot of it might be going into your junk folder. I just checked my Kellogg mail to find all sorts of important emails like this one. )

Haha, not really. Enjoy it while it lasts because we probably won't have the same level of academic excitement in about 9 months.

Do all of the boot camps...they don't take a long time and definitely are for your benefit. A lot of the stuff will be a refresher for some people but its not the same as GMAT math stuff so it will definitely help you out. Honestly its pretty basic stuff but its the stuff that when you show up every prof. is going to assume you know cold...if you don't you will look foolish. Some core classes have plenty of cold calling to ensure people are keeping up on readings and the work.

Our CIM starts on June 22nd (or right about then) and last for about a week, then classes officially start. Definitely pumped but a little overwhelmed with all the crap that needs to happen between now and then!

Does anyone know why MORS-430, the Management & Organizations course we take during CIM, is also offered in the spring? I thought everyone was required to take this in the fall during CIM, with no exceptions. :?:

(The same goes for SEEK-440. Required during 2nd-year CIM, but also offered in spring.)
