Any JD-MBA admits on this thread? Just got my admit email last night and realized for the first time that we need to do financial aid applications via the law school, which says they were due March 1!!!!! Anyone else scrambling to turn those in now? Any idea if that means I'm out of the running for any scholarship/grant money?

Found out that I was in last week (I was in Spain so they tried to call me but then resorted to email since they couldn't get through). I will be attending DAK II.

Is anyone a bit fazed when looking at the bill? Kellogg is one of the more expensive programs and I'm wondering how people are funding their education. I've worked only 3 years and will need every possible loan out there.

Otherwise - I'm quite excited to meet some of you in April!

From what I understand they'll be rolling out some merit-based scholarships over the next few weeks, then the rest of the aid packages will come through the FAFSA and the Kellogg request for financial aid. Most people will get some combination of merit/need-based scholarships, corporate sponsored scholarships, and loans.

Did you get the "Kellogg Financial Aid" email from admissions yet? That email pretty much covers it all.

Aha! You must've timed your response as no sooner had I read it that I got an email from the Kellogg Financial Aid. It seems that I have to fill out some form before they decide both on loans and scholarships.

Is the registration for DAK II open? Every time I try to register, it has already selected my DAK weekend as the February weekend and won't let me change it. I know we need to register by April 1 so thought I'd check here before I call the office. Thanks!

I had the same problem. I emailed the DAK address and didn't get a response. I'll call Monday if I haven't heard anything.

Scratch that. Registration just opened today. I just went to the site and it's working.

Thanks! I saw that, too, and just registered. Looking forward to meeting everyone there!

I remember reading somewhere (probably in the Kellogg applicants thread) that Kellogg provides some monetary assistance to attend DAK.. has anyone else heard about that or know what that process is? I didn't see anything listed on the DAK website. Thanks!

Is everyone supposed to get that financial aid email? I have received the admit email about a week ago but didnt receive the financial aid email.

Hey all,

Are there any people facing conflicting welcome weekends between schools they are still deciding on? I'm trying to figure out which scenario would give me the best/proper view of each school and honestly it's making my head spin:
1. devote full and separate weekend to each school, one on official Welcome Weekend and one off
2. do a half and half, spending Friday of WW at one school and the Saturday at the other
3. i haven't gotten as far as brainstorming a third option

I feel like 1 would give me time to develop a clear standing on at least *one* of the schools, but is inherently biased. 2 would be apples-to-apples but may end up leaving me incompletely informed about BOTH schools. Any tips/recommendations??

Hi Guys,
One more question - this one is more immigration related. I guess the admit took me by surprise and off-guard and I dont have everything figured out. This one is immigration related and I would really appreciate any pointers.

Summary of my issue -
Am working in US on a work visa right now and need to do a change of status to F1 (student visa) which my immigration attorney tells me can take anywhere between 3-4 months. Given that I can only apply for the change of status after I receive documentation from school (which will be after Financial Aid decision, which I am guessing is third week of April), I dont think this process will complete by the time 1 year MBA classes start in Jun. So that means I cannot attend the program :(..

So couple of questions -
1. Does anyone has any idea what to do? I am guessing the change of status is not uncommon but since the timing of 1Y MBA is unique, I might be one of a few stuck with this. Any other forum I can take advantage of? Any ideas are welcome

2. Does the school provide any assistance\guidance on this type of immigration related matters?

I am kind of lost right now..

Hi,

I am pretty much on the same boat as you. I went through the admitted site and see that the immigration office does offer some help. Also, I think if the classes start before your CoS is approved I guess you can still attend classes provided your current visa status allows that. I remember stumbling on a pdf:

northwestern.edu/international/forms/i20/Supplemental%20Change%20of%20Status%20Form_2011.pdf

Hope this helps. Do excuse if you already are aware of all this.

I believe certain admits get assistance, probably fullride folks and people like that. However, the vast majority will have to foot the bill themselves. Sorry guys, if you weren't given information about getting assistance then chances are you wont be getting any.

Hey guys, I submitted my deposit and have decided to enroll at Kellogg. I'd love to get to know everyone and maybe meet up during DAK. I lived in Evanston for while before so I am relatively familiar with the area. If you have any questions labout housing, parking, living, dining, clubbing (sorry, but the best clubs are in Chicago), or visiting, please feel free to shoot me a pm.

Cheers!

Hi guys

I'd like to share my situation and ask for advice:

I was accepted to Kellogg (which is great!!) and waitlisted by Haas (not so great...). Haas and Kellogg are both my best choices, and I have a preference for Haas, so at the moment I would like to wait more for Haas' answer before paying deposit to Kellogg. Problem is that date may not work out, as Kellogg wants deposit by May 3 and Haas will let me know ( I think ) by May 13.
So I asked Kellogg if they could extend the deadline a bit to allow me to make an informed decision, but they said no :(

Has anyone here managed to get an extended deposit deadline? Or do you have any other advice for me?

Thanks!

I tried to extend my deadline and they wouldn't let me. Calling and saying that you want to extend because you are waiting to hear from another school doesn't work at Kellogg. I would suggest trying another reason.

I'm bowing out of this thread since I declined my Kellogg offer in favor of HBS's offer--good luck to everyone else and thanks to those of you who helped me out along the way.
