Hello
VeritasPrepHailey. I hope that you are doing well.
Can you please tell me where my approach is wrong.
(A) because of the ability of researchers to generate information about individuals far outpacing
To generate is a verb and it should be compared with a verb. “Outpacing” is not parallel. So I eliminated this option.
The correct idiom is “ability to”. Can I eliminate option A on the basis of this idiom as well?
(B) for the ability of researchers to generate information about individuals has far outpaced
“For the ability seems quite awkward”. Why to use present perfect? There is no specific timeline or the indication that this action started in the past and continues till present.
(C) because researchers’ ability to generate information about individuals that has far outpaced
It is wrong because there is no verb. The sentence is not complete. It is dependent clause.
(D) due to the outpacing by researchers’ ability to generate information about individuals of
Due to and caused by can be used interchangeably, and it does not make sense “caused by the outpacing by researchers’ ability”
(E) since
the ability of researchers
for generating information about individuals has been outpacing-> wrong idiom.
I was highly confused in this question.
