Hey all, I was wondering if you could give me some advice.
I am a graduating Math/Econ undergrad from a state school with a 3.6 GPA. Much of my coursework—probability, statistics, economics—was at the doctoral level and at a higher level than most, if not all, MBA programs. I thought this would count for something when applying for entry-level finance jobs, but it didn't.
To be frank, I was beat out by inferior candidates from better schools. After an extensive job search, I realize that pedigree is probably the most important factor for these finance jobs. Does the same hold for top-tier MBA programs?
I realize that I'm not going to land a job with a prestigious firm. Moreover, I can't really go back and change the name of my school. Will this preclude me from a top MBA program?
