Hey guys,
I did my first GMAT CAT today (GMAT Prep Test 1 from the GMAT website) and I scored 680 (Q44/V40). I skipped the AWA section. Between questions 10-20 of the Quant section I felt that the questions were quite difficult and I thought yay I guess I'm scoring really well right now. But then the questions 20-37 seemed extremely easy and I was actually about to quit the GMAT CAT because I thought I was scoring in the 400 area. I also finished the Quant section 15 minutes early. During the Verbal section I couldn't really tell what my level was, I knew it was above 500 but some questions were quite difficult, others were really easy. In the report at the end of the CAT I saw that I got 9 out of the first 20 questions and 4 out of the last 17 wrong. (Quant section)
The 680 just seems to good to be true because I just started studying. The only book I've read so far is Kaplan Premier. I did well on the practice quizzes at the end of the verbal chapter (78% right on average), but I didn't do well on the math quizzes (about 65% right on average).
Could there be some "error" on the CAT that overestimated my score? If not, is this score an indicator that my level is in the 650 range? I need a minimum 650 for my uni applications, a 700 would be awesome.
It only took me about 4-5 days to work through Kaplan Premier, my plan was to study about 3 weeks between december and january and about 6 weeks from february to march. (Im still in uni and I have to study for my last exams in January) My GMAT is scheduled on the 21st of March. My (original) plan was to do the 8
MGMAT books and the OG as well as Kaplans online classes.
What would you guys recommend for my future prep?
Should I take a second CAT to make sure that the 680 actually reflects my current level?
Thanks for your help guys!
