Hi
MG4MBACrystalBall,
Thanks for your response. Here is my response to your points. Would request you to let me know your thoughts on the same.
The contours of your work sound good. However, it is not clear if you've had substantial achievements that can help showcase your differentiation clearly. This is imperative given that you are planning to apply with at least a year (if not two) of handicap compared to the average experience range:
What do you mean by 'achievements'? Just wanted to know exactly what you're referring to since it is a relative term. While the PR to marketing switch is logical on paper, entry into the marketing space is super tough for international MBA grads. Make sure you've done your research well and can convince the adcoms in this regard rather than blindly relying on a school's brand.:
A brief response on this, just for you to get an idea:
Short term goals: To work in the marketing and brand management department of a large MNCs such as Coca-Cola; Pepsico; Nike; Apple or Google among others, engage in disruptive marketing and communication for behavioural change (The Nike Kaepernick campaign. Ring a bell?); will be able to leverage my existing PR and communication skills and what I learn through the MBA programme
Long term goal: To join the C-suite of a large multi-national company (Hence the MBA; would like to dive deep into unventured territory such as strategy, finance, accounting and economics which can help me get there in the long run)
Additionally, why the MBA now? So I have more time to capitalise on it and the career I choose. The ECs and internship sound power-packed. Important to understand if you've kept up with them or a big void in the past couple of years; if yes, that can be a bit of a handicap too:
Been on a fitness journey over the past five years. Also, have actively participated in the communication bit of CSR programmes of my clients during my work experience at the agency and worked on a two-member team(including myself) for an Indian start-up that focuses on a 'circular economy' for the World Economic Forum. Read here on the typical number of schools to target. The actual number is very subjective since it'll really depend on your speed etc. But you should try to achieve in the above ballpark:
Among the schools that I have listed that I would like to apply to, which ones do you suggest applying to realistically? Top three maybe?
