GKomoku,

The two choices differ by a single word. Play close attention to the words "Children's" and " Childrens' " :-)

Only one of the two is a possessive noun.

Bunuel

(C) establishing a fund for the children’s future education

(D) establishing a fund for the childrens’ future education

Hello Bunuel

Answer choices C and D are similar, and both of them correct, could you please change ;)

After the Vietnam war, Bettye Granther, a U.S. Army nurse, continued her efforts on behalf of injured Vietnamese children, providing medical care, helping to reunite estranged families, and the establishment of a fund for the children’s future education.

(A) the establishment of a fund for the children’s future education

(B) the establishing of a fund for the future education of children

(C) establishing a fund for the children’s future education

(D) establishing a fund for the childrens’ future education

(E) the establishment of a fund for the childrens’ future education

Parallelism :
Providing, Helping, and establishing.
Eliminate A,B,E

Singular Possessive Vs Plural Possessive
Plural possessive makes sense when efforts in war are being discussed.
Eliminate C

Answer Option D is Correct.

"children" is already plural, so childrens' doesn't make any sense.
The correct possessive will be "children's"
