Xin Cho
generis could I possibly ask you for your take on this one?
In the official answer provided it is stated that C is incorrect - "This choice changes the meaning of the sentence. Note that there is no contrast word present in this sentence. Thus, the sense of contrast is no longer evident."
In a post
https://gmatclub.com/forum/found-in-the-depths-of-all-the-world-s-oceans-the-vampire-squid-lives-302158-20.html#p2344161 while back you wrote me that "a lot of people mistakenly believe that option A determines intended meaning. That myth still makes its way into test prep books."
From my understanding, I don't see a reason why option C is incorrect. Or am I wrongly interpreting your original post? Thank you in advance.
I would agree with you. Option C seems correct as well.
I marked D because I figured we need the contrast and both are ICs.
And this is one thing I get confused with. If the original sentence is incorrect (which is in this case and not always) then how do you understand that you still need to retain the contrast.
