charges for first 500 sq feet = 500*3 = 1500
Amount remaining = 3000-1500=1500
thus she paid for Let x sq ft. @ $2.5= $ 1500
so x =1500/2.5=600 sq.ft
total Sq ft of siding she purchased = 500 +600= 1100sq ft.

\(3*500 + 2.5*x = 3000\)
Or, \(1500 +2.5x = 3000\)
Or, \(2.5x = 1500\)
Or, \(x = 600\)
So, Total aluminum siding required is 1100 ( ie, 500 + 600 )..
Answer will be (D) 1100.
