Got dinged from UT Austin without interview today.
GMAT-700(q-49, v-35) AWA 5.5/6
Work ex- 2 years in Research and development
EC- nice
really very sad :( :( . was hoping to get through McCombs :( .. have kellogg, wisconsin and Boston to go..lets see what happens there :? .

The issue is that I didn't even get a chance to prove myself to them. I mailed them asking about the reason and they sent the link to the class profile page and asked me to compare.. I had everything (GMAT, TOEFL, GPA) above their average scores except for the Work Exp. I think that made the diff.. but still an interview call was all I wanted :|
Anyways, thanks for your kind words. keeping my fingers crossed for the rest of them.

me too. I think they've extended invitations to strong candidates, but my app hasn't even been changed to "under review"

Accept the randomness of the entire process. I got dinged w/o interview from CMU (R1). Admitted to McCombs. You might make it to Kellogg !! Best of luck.

My status reads, "We have received all credentials required to process your application. Your file has been forwarded to the Graduate Committee for review. "

I applied on 12/20/2010
they received my official transcript on 1/07/2011
I got invited to interview on: 1/17/2011
I interviewed on 1/26/2011

I was wondering when I could expect to receive a final decision? Also, anybody have color my status?

The essays are the one's that set u apart. Mediocre data points ( GMAT,TOEFL,GPA ) are secondary to the message you are trying to put across. If your story is not cohesive and it doesn't appeal to the ad com, you may not make it. The other point is that "Indian Male applicant" is a very competitive pool and distinguishing yourself becomes all the more important.
I have seen people with a profile similar to yours secure an admit at other higher ranked schools.

Has anyone who applied around 1/13 heard anything about interviews? If so, did you get an email or was it just updated in your status online? I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to get dinged without an interview, which would be surprising since it's the school I feel I had the best chance at (and would love to attend).

I applied 1/14 and received interview invite a week ago. I just sent the request for interview through the system but I am interviewing with an alum working for the same company as I do so he told me not to worry about the system. I will interview in about an hour or tomorrow morning and he will report when system allows him.

My stats:
M/28/700
WE: 7.5y as Fiscal Consultant for big four.

Did anyone who was admitted in the last 2 weeks receive a follow up email to the admit call? The lady called me on Tuesday and said an email would follow, but have not heard anything yet, and the status on the application page has not changed.

Had a good campus visit today. The admissions ambassadors are great to talk with during lunch. The only downside was the freezing temperatures that prevented a full campus tour... shouldn't it be in the mid 80's in Austin by now ;p
