I actually didn't accept the offer. I'm going to CBS instead, it was a really tough choice since I love UT-Austin, its a great school, much cheaper area, all my best friends are there, girls are prettier, etc..

But ultimately I was really impressed with CBS too, and I just wanted to challenge myself in New York instead of going back to the state I grew up in..

If you guys matriculate at UT, you will not regret it. It was definitely painful to hit the decline button in the app page.

UTA is a game of patience. From applying to admit it took me over 2 months! (Nov-Feb)

Best of luck!

Just FYI, probably better to say "Ut-Austin" versus UTA. Here in Dallas at least UTA stands for University of Texas Arlington not Austin.

How does one know he/she is on waitlist? Does the application state specifically?

They sent me an email and told me to log in to my application. The notice was at the top where it previously said "application submitted" or something similar.

Valid point ! I actually went to UT Arlington for 1 semester and it sure is called UTA. Most people address the Texas universities as UT Arlington/Dallas/Austin etc.

i just got the email today. i submitted like few days before rd2 deadline. I have about 2 weeks to schedule an interview with alum or fly over to texas.

Got the nod last week. Applied early November, interviewed late November. Nine solid weeks after my interview - if you back out the two weeks when adcom is closed around Christmas. It's a random process but I think essays and recs are the most important.

Does anybody know the time they give you to make a decision after being accepted at UT?

I got my admit call on Jan 24th and I have until March 15th to decide. I think they try to give you at least a month from what I've seen on the boards here.

I got this email last night.

We are excited that you have applied to the Texas MBA Program! This email confirms that we have received your Consortium application for the University of Texas at Austin.

I apologize that you have not heard anything from us sooner. We have experienced some technical delays in transferring your Consortium application to our McCombs online application so that is why you have not received any emails yet regarding a UT log in or status check.

We are currently finalizing the review of your application, and you will be notified of an admission decision by the end of this month. If you have an updated test score or anything else that needs to be added to your application please send that to me by the end of this week. Consortium Fellowship decisions will be made in March.

We will be assigning a University of Texas EID to you soon. The UT EID is a unique electronic identifier that allows you to access secure UT web services. If you already have a UT EID please let me know. The EID is important for you to have to receive your final admission decision.

There are two sites that you will able to access with your EID:

1) McCombs Online Application Site - From this site you are able to sign up for on campus events like class visits and Information Sessions. You will also be notified of your application decision at this site.

2) GIAC Status Check Site – this site is used by the Graduate and International Admissions Center (GIAC) which is the clearinghouse for all University of Texas graduate applications. Since your application and supporting documents do not come through the normal UT application process, if you log on to the GIAC status check site it will reflect that we have not received your application. Please disregard this status and know that we have received your application via the Consortium.


I will send another email when your UT EID has been set up.

If you have any questions about the application process or the Texas MBA program please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
