Application Additional Details Section - What to include? [#permalink]

The MBA application has an Additional Detail section, which states that "Through all of the elements of your application, we believe that we get to know you well. Only complete this section if you have critical information you could not convey elsewhere on your application (e.g., extenuating circumstances affecting academic or work performance). Do not include essays, and please, be brief."

I would like to be able to clarify my low undergrad GPA, which was unfortunately due to immaturity and lack of experience with time management. I have grown substantially since then and have been able to be acknowledged in my career, while being a full time graduate student (with a high GPA) and managing a small non-profit organization in parallel. Can I briefly express this in the additional comments section, or is this section not meant for this type of explanation? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds acceptable. Just out of curiosity, what are you considering as "low GPA"? I've heard many experts say that you should only consider it low if it's below a 3.0.

I'm in a similar boat and did exactly what you're suggesting. There isn't much you can do about the past, however you can use professional achievements and good test scores to overcome that GPA.

There's several other threads that address this issue here:

I’m getting my applications done from CK (www<dot>careerkundali<dot>in). These guys have given me the kind of personalized attention I couldn’t have gotten from elsewhere. They are a start-up that’s growing very fast and give great service. Would highly recommend them. They’ve been on the admissions panel for Indian and international Universities so they also share the admissions officer’s perspective.
