Hey guys, I recently received an e-mail from INSEAD's marketing team which included the following lines:-
"We understand that test centre closures in some locations could have had an impact for those of you who are planning to submit their application in time for the next intakes. In this particular context, we would like to extend the possibility for you to apply without a GMAT, GRE, EA or TOEFL score.
We encourage you to continue to prepare and finalise your application without test scores if you are living in a country affected by test centre closures. The admissions teams will start evaluating applications without GMAT, GRE, EA or TOEFL test scores while waiting for the test centres to reopen. They will advise you on the options available to enable you to provide a completed application. We have already extended some deadlines and are working closely with test providers."
I just wanted to confirm that in case I apply without a test score due to the aforementioned circumstances, and if the Cornonavirus situation does not improve, is there a possibility that INSEAD takes admission decisions without final submission of GMAT scores? Can the admissions team deffer decision of prior round and then take them along with the subsequent rounds if the prior round applicants send their GMAT scores later?
I know these are highly unlikely scenarios but I am just curious to know how exactly INSEAD is planning to go about this policy?
Hi
willacethisMany business schools have begun considering such options, and are giving applicants avenues to keep on working on their applications, given the disruptions in GRE/GMAT testing at this point. As MBAPrepCoach has mentioned RSM has already started using proxies (GPA, in that case).
At this point, we very much doubt that INSEAD will switch over to proxy parameters instead of test scores, as they have traditionally been focused on test scores as a very important part of their criteria, even specifying minimum quant scores and percentiles in the past.
That said, the entire situation right now is completely unprecedented. In case this does continue, business schools will probably need to look into alternative/online tests, proxy parameters, and higher local student intakes as possible options.
