Question ......................... 27 year old male from India
• Worked with EXL Analytics for around 4.5 years. Achieved two promotions and now in a lead role (Lead Assistant Manager). Mostly worked in India, but had a couple of stints in the UK (Locations- Staines, Cardiff, Leicester) of 1 month and 2 months each.
• Graduated from IIEST Shibpur with B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) in 2015 with a GPA of 7.12 (out of 10)
Extra-curricular:
• Participated actively in the organization of college fest, gathering funds from both alumni and sponsors and planning the event calendar
• A photography enthusiast, did several online courses on photography, right from learning the basics to gathering knowledge on sepecific topics, like wildlife photography
• Part of a college band, being the lead keyboard player
Targeting top schools in Europe and US
Would my college GPA affect my chances of getting into the top European schools? If yes, then in what range should I score on the GMAT to get a realistic chance of getting in?
Which colleges should I realistically target having a low GPA?

your college GPA doesn’t sound at all problematic, and in any case, a high GMAT will compensate for that
What GMAT score should you aim for? the higher the better. but lets start with the school averages :) So, if you are aiming for Duke and their GMAT average was 710 in the old GMAT ~665 in the new GMAT FE) then aim for a higher score than that

Which schools can you aim for? you have a good profile with international experience, so nearly any school, given a higher than average GMAT and a stellar application
SO for now, focus on the GMAT, and then, if you wish, reach out to me via email at Shimriw@ARINGO.com for a chances assesment and school selection
GOOD LUCK!
Shimri

Question ............. Should I apply only in R1 or is R2?
In my view, Round 1 (R1) generally offers better advantages. You typically have higher acceptance rates, more opportunities for scholarships, and ample time for project planning. Plus, if needed, R2 can serve as a fallback for other programs if your R1 applications don’t yield the desired results.

However, Round 2 (R2) might be the better choice if your application can significantly improve by then. For instance, if you expect your GMAT score to increase notably by waiting until R2, it could enhance your overall competitiveness. Otherwise, aiming for R1 ensures you’re on track with the primary deadlines and gives you the best shot at securing your desired program.

Question ............... Is it true M7 schools don’t accept Indian male engineers?
It’s a common question, but the honest truth is that MBA programs like those in the M7 consortium do seek diversity in their classes. That means applicants from overrepresented backgrounds, such as Indian male engineers or consultants, face stiffer competition due to the large number of qualified candidates vying for limited spots.

So, what can you do? Stand out!
Focus on crafting exceptional applications that highlight your unique strengths, experiences, and perspectives. Show how you can contribute distinctively to the program and its community. By showcasing what makes you different and exceptional, you can improve your chances of standing out in a competitive applicant pool.

Hi, well, we don’t have any school data. I am assuming we will have some after R1.
unofficially I can see that the GMAT FE scores are very competitive, and I have a feeling the GMAT averages will keep going higher and higher

Hey!

I have a doubt on GMAT score requirement. The GMAT focus edition 645 is equivalent to 700 but even then the sectional percentile can vary drastically, like, just 51 percentile for a scaled score of 79 in verbal.

Will it affect the application? Is there a minimum sectional cut off ? I was looking forward to apply for mim at essec, hec, edhec

A GMAT score of 645 is equivalent to around 700. Please don’t worry too much about the percentages. Schools are also still determining how to interpret these new scores.

A 645 should be sufficient for these schools. Remember, the GMAT is just one factor in the MBA application process.

If you send me your CV, GMAT score, school wish list, and any other relevant information, I can provide you with an estimation of your chances 😊 Feel free to reach out to me at shimriw@ARINGO.com anytime.
