Original Sentence:
A recent poll showed that people working in white-collar industries consider themselves no more financially secure than do people working in blue-collar industries.

Let's evaluate the options:
(A) "no more financially secure than do people working"
* This seems to be clear, concise, and grammatically correct comparison between the financial security of people working in white-collar industries and those working in blue-collar
industries. "Do" is used here to avoid repeating the verb "consider". So it seems to be correct
(let's keep this option for now)

(B) "not any more financially secure than do people working"
* This is also grammatically correct but sounds a bit awkward. "Not any more" is a less elegant way of expressing the idea than "no more".
(can be eliminated, but let's keep)

(C) "not any more financially secure than do people who work"
* Similar to (B), "not any more" is a bit awkward, and the addition of "who work" adds unnecessary length to the sentence.
(eliminate)

(D) "no more financially secure than are people who are working
* The use of "are" in this case is unnecessary and makes the sentence awkward. I will eliminate this. Than are people who are working (no, awkward)
(eliminate)

(E) "not as financially secure as are people who work"
* I think this changes the meaning of the sentence. This suggests that people working in white-collar industries consider themselves less financially secure.
(eliminate)

Between A and B, I will go with option A as it sounds more concise.

(A) no more financially secure than do people working
Correct option.

(B) not any more financially secure than do people working
"not any more" changes the meaning slightly.

(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work
Same as option B.

(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working
Incorrect parallelism. "as are people" changes the meaning. Eliminate option.

(E) not as financially secure as are people who work
Incorrect parallelism. "as are people" changes the meaning. Eliminate option.

Answer Option A.

A recent poll showed that people working in white-collar industries consider themselves no more financially secure than do people working in blue-collar industries.

The intended meaning: people working in white-collar industries recently consider that they are no more financially secure than are people working in blue-collar industries

1.people working/ people who are working: both are grammatically correct but "people working" is better.
"people working in blue-collar industries" is parallel to "people working in white-collar industries"
2. not any more than/ no more than/ as as
not any more than and no more than are the same, just that the latter is more formal than the former.
these two reflect the meaning that there was once - white-collar workers once consider themselves more financially secure than blue-collar workers but not any more.
as ... as implies that now white-collar workers consider themselves less financially secure than blue-collar workers.
3. are/do
"financially secure" is adj => auxiliary verb should be are, not do.

Therefore A,B,C out because of "do"
between D and E
no more than > as as in terms of meaning
people who are working vs. people who work: both are fine but I think "people who are working" is slightly better since the people mentioned in the poll are supposed to be "working in blue-collar industries" at the time period of the poll conducted.

Answer: D
(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working

A recent poll showed that people working in white-collar industries consider themselves no more financially secure than do people working in blue-collar industries.

are - is used for present progressive for things that are happening now at this moment
do is used to represent simple present tense.

(A) no more financially secure than do people working - comparison and 'do' correctly refers to consider and comparison between how people in white-collar industries feel that people working in blue-collar industries consider.

(B) not any more financially secure than do people working - incorrect parallelism in comparison,

(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work - not parallel - people working ...than do people who work

(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working - not parallel - people working than people who are working, incorrect usage of 'are', incorrect

(E) not as financially secure as are people who work - not parallel - people working ...people who work, incorrect usage of 'are'

"no more financially secure" is preferable to "not any more financially secure". With this one can eliminate choices (B) and (C).

(E) not as financially secure as are people who work
(E) can be eliminated because the meaning of the sentence is altered. "No more financially secure" implies they are either equally or less secure, while "not as financially secure" implies that they are less secure. There is also an issue with parallelism in comparison due to the 'are'

Between (A) and (D) there is a difference in comparison. (D) is not a parallel comparison because of the 'are'. (A) correctly compares how financial secure white-collar workers consider themselves to how financially secure blue-collar workers consider themselves.

This question revolves around the meaning issues due to slight modification in the correct sentence.

Here we need to compare how much white-collar industry people "consider" themselves financially secure with how much blue-collar industry people "consider" themselves financially secure.

(A) Here the statement clearly and correctly compares how much both type of people "CONSIDER" themselves financially secure. Hence this is the correct option.

(B) "not any more" is unnecessarily giving a meaning that they don't consider something in present moment and used to consider that something earlier, which is clearly not what the sentence is intending to convey. Hence wrong option.

(C) This is also conveying the exact wrong meaning as in statement (B), hence this is also a wrong option.

(D) Here the meaning conveyed is different than what we expect. First half is comparing "how much financially secure do white-collar industry workers consider themselves" and the second half of the sentence compares "how much financially secure blue-collar industry people ARE". But the sentence wants to convey the comparison of how much both type of people "CONSIDER" themselves financially secure and not how much they "ARE"

(E) This is also conveying the exact wrong meaning as in statement (D), hence this is also a wrong option.

A recent poll showed that people working in white-collar industries consider themselves no more financially secure than do people working in blue-collar industries.

(A) no more financially secure than do people working
(B) not any more financially secure than do people working
(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work
(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working
(E) not as financially secure as are people who work

The original underlined phrase is grammatically incorrect because it compares 'themselves' to 'do people working'. There is a SV disagreement here.
Also the comparison marker used 'no more secure than' is awkward and incorrect. Rather it can be replaced by a more coherent form of comparison such as 'not as secure as'.

Let's look at the options:

(A) no more financially secure than do people working
As discussed above the original answer choice is INCORRECT

(B) not any more financially secure than do people working
As discussed above this choice has the SV agreement error. Also not any more secure changes the intended meaning. INCORRECT

(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work
Similar error as in option B. INCORRECT

(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working
Along with the incorrect use of comparison marker, this choice incorrectly changes the verb 'working' to 'are working' which creates a tense mismatch between the two parts of the comparison. INCORRECT

(E) not as financially secure as are people who work
Correct use of comparison marker and the correct SV pair agreement and verb tense i.e. 'people who work. CORRECT

The correct idiom to use is "no more..........than.....". Another issue in the sentence is the usage of verb. The main action in the sentence is "people working in white-collar industries consider themselves....". Therefore, we need a verb that is parallel.
(A) no more financially secure than do people working
A covers both the issues and is logical on both fronts. We keep this one.

(B) not any more financially secure than do people working
Unidiomatic. INCORRECT

(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work
Same as B. INCORRECT

(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working
Unidiomatic. INCORRECT

(E) not as financially secure as are people who work
Trap answer. Seeming logical at first, this answer choice incorrectly marks comparison/parallelismllism between white collar peoples' consideration of financial security and the actual financial security of people working in blue collar industries. INCORRECT.

A recent poll showed that people working in white-collar industries consider themselves no more financially secure than do people working in blue-collar industries.

Original sentence has comparison error. Comparison should be between white collar industries' people and blue collar industries people.

(A) no more financially secure than do people working: Incorrect, comparison error.
(B) not any more financially secure than do people working': Incorrect, not any more does not convey intended comparison.
(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work: Incorrect, same error as B.
(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working: Incorrect, the phrase "are people who are working" is wordy. The correct phrase is "people who work."
(E) not as financially secure as are people who work: Correct, comparison is clear here.

IMO E.

B. Meaning error. "Not any more" means they were feeling secured earlier which we don't know.
C. Same as B.

(A) no more financially secure than do people working
correct use of the grammatical structure -- no more X than.. appropriately covey sthe meaning

(B) not any more financially secure than do people working
'no more financially secure' is better vis-a-vis the wordier 'not any more financially secure'

(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work
here also, 'no more financially secure' is better vis-a-vis the wordier 'not any more financially secure'

(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working
incorrect grammatical structure through the use of 'are' two times in the latter part of the sentence

(E) not as financially secure as are people who work
incorrect comparison of consideration vis-a-vis the people through the use of 'not as financially secure as'

(A) is the CORRECT answer

Options
A- consider- Present tense, "than do people.." correctly used the present tense
B- "not any more" implies that the people don't consider themselves financially secure anymore (earlier they did). Wrong meaning
C- same as B
D- use of the "to be" form is incorrect (are)
E- consider "as" is a redundancy. Also use of "are" erroneous.

hence option A is correct.

Quote:
(A) no more financially secure than do people working
Uses the similar type of modifier for people as present in the non-underlined part. Parallelism looks fine.

Quote:
(B) not any more financially secure than do people working
Usage of "not..more" is unidiomatic imo.

Quote:
(C) not any more financially secure than do people who work
Similar parallelism error as present in E.

Quote:
(D) no more financially secure than are people who are working
Similar parallelism error as present in E. Also, addition of "are working" is unnecessarily making the tense complex.

Quote:
(E) not as financially secure as are people who work
Parallelism error. "Working in blue.." should be used instead of "who work.." because in the non-underlined part we have the similar type of modifier for the people.

IMO OA should be A.
