1. "have been becoming" implies illogically that the specialization happens before the growth of business. A and D out

2. such ....as : correct
2.1 such...like: wrong
2.2 .........like : wrong
2.3 ..........as: wrong

3. those has no referent: A, C, D out
4. are being succefful: awkward

B[/quote]

Does it not matter that the original sentence says: areas like those of finance and marketing but (B) say: such specialized areas as finance and marketing

Doesn't that change the meaning to "areas similar to finance" to "areas in finance"?

IMO B) ... like does not fit so A) and D) are out. majored, having majored does not make sense so E) and C) are out.

For examples, you need "such as"

A : like - eliminate
B : such as - correct
C : being - eliminate
D : like - eliminate
E : having - eliminate

Hi guys,

IMO B

(A) majoring in specialized areas like those of finance and marketing have been becoming increasingly wordy
(B) who major in such specialized areas as finance and marketing are becoming more and more it could be, hold
(C) who majored in specialized areas such as those of finance and marketing are being increasingly being
(D) who major in specialized areas like those of finance and marketing have been becoming more and more it could be, hold
(E) having majored in such specialized areas as finance and marketing are being increasingly being

Between B and D, I prefer B because of the use of "such as" insted of "like"

OA?

Cheers

B again.
" students who major " is correct.
D unnecessarily uses the present perfect when simple present will do.
