Total # of pizzas sold = p

# of mushroom pizzas sold = p/8
# of pepperoni pizzas sold = 1/3(7p/8) = 7p/24

7p/24 = n
p/24 = n/7
p/8 = 3n/7

At certain pizzeria 1/8 of the pizzas sold in one week were mushroom and 1/3 of the remaining pizzas sold were pepperoni. If n of the pizzas sold were pepperoni, how many were mushroom?

Let total pizzas sold me x

So, x/8 pizzas sold were mushrooms.
Remaining pizzas = 7x/8

1/3 of the remaining were pepperoni = 7x/24 = n

solving, x/8 = 3n/7
