Hi - please let me know if I am a good candidate for the target programs listed below and any areas to focus on improving. Also curious if my GMAT will be an inhibitor given my background.
Demographics: Age 25, Male, American
GMAT: 720 (Q48 / V40)
Education: BS in Finance and Economics from a top 50 public university; 3.6 GPA; 3.9 Major GPA
Work Exp: 2 years in Investment Banking; 2 years in Private Equity (upon matriculation) - both focused on the TMT sector. Significant experience working on tech m&a and working with rapidly growing tech companies. Played large part in helping with campus recruiting initiatives as well.
Extra-curriculars: Volunteer as a mentor/coach for disadvantaged local community college students; In undergrad, started a for-profit student consulting organization.
Target Programs:
LBS
INSEAD (currently only have basic Spanish knowledge in addition to native English)
Other European schools to target?

your odds at H/S/W are tough only because they are for everyone- but if you can demonstrate to Harvard that you have had an impact as a leader in mulitple areas of your life you certainly have a shot. Better odds at Columbia and Booth and kellogg just because there are indeed better odds in their selection process. I would add Tuck to your list. LBS and INSEAD could be good options if you want that International exposure. The question to ask yourself- and I don't have all the info here to help you fully- is HOW AM I DIFFERENT than all the others who want to do PE with MBA? So your TMT experience helps you know that sector better- could you target PE for that area? You should try to leverage what you bring that sets you apart and then also really wow these programs with your thoughtfulness on why you'd be a good "fit" there which you can only do with dedicated research.
