We need to choose what should be subject : Singular or Plural :
non underlined statement gives us a hint, that its saying something that is done since centuries is continuing till today by the group. So its not about a single person. A person is not working since centuries .it is the group.
So we need plural here: they , their and seamstresses
A) the seamstress still pursues her art as they have : her singular, they plural ,INcorrect
(B) the seamstress still pursues her art as she has : singular ok, but we need plural
(C) seamstresses still pursue their art as they have : Correct
(D) seamstresses still pursue their art as was done : Incorrect
(E) the seamstress still pursues her art as has been done : again we are talking here singular subject: Incorrect

I could eliminate all options except C and D.
Between them, I felt C was the right option.
Can an expert please explain the basis to eliminate D?

The was done at the end is passive. Also, because it is passive, we don't know whether it is for seamstresses. As in, something was done... by whom?

The use of the past tense seems to indicate that there was some kind of "break" in the process.

Because the rest are not suitable for the proposal. Option C is more relevant. The question is really interesting, I had to break my head over it.
